McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc markets a broad range of over-the-counter products, including TYLENOL® acetaminophen products, ZYRTEC® and BENADRYL® allergy medicines, IMODIUM® A-D anti-diarrheal, MOTRIN® IB, and SUDAFED® nasal decongestants.
The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator provides technical expertise to improve processes that evaluate and control Environmental, Health and safety (EHS) risks in areas such as, water, waste, air, tanks, chemical hazards and properties, chemical hazard control, permissible exposure levels, and EHS standards interpretation. This role will support the EHS functions by presenting recommended content changes in the industrial hygiene component of the environmental health and safety management policy and program, ensuring the Implementation of environmental health and safety policies/programs (at the site level), and performing self audits to identify program specific deficiencies and areas of risk.
The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator also serves as a technical expert for environmental, health and safety programs at the site, provides guidance, technical support and professional expertise to site management and associates on activities that may have environmental, health and safety impacts. This role partners with management in risk assessment, collaborates with facility management and associates to implement corrective measures, and monitors hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal programs including vendor contracts, waste profiles, and audits. The environmental Health & Safety Coordinator role coordinates waste management programs to ensure waste materials are appropriately stored, shipped, tracked, and disposed or recycled in compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements. This role also analyzes and performs preventative and required reporting for hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, biological, air emission, storm water and other environmental, health and safety issues. This role is accountable to perform safety and industrial hygiene evaluations, participate in external audits/inspections by OSHA, ISO 14001, MAARS and state regulatory agencies at regional J&J facilities. Customizes generic emergency response plans through development of site-specific elements (e.g., fire brigade and spill team procedures), collates all environmental data for presentation & reports to submit to local regulation or J&J. This role also supports safety and environmental programs by evaluating all projects relative to program requirements, performing all environmental audits according to the EHS requirements, and attending regulatory trainings.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required. Minimum 4 years of experience in Environmental Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene and/ related experience is required. EHS data reporting and tracking systems preferred. Knowledge of EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations on a local, state and federal level are required. Technical knowledge of water, air, tank, waste, environmental program components is required. Experience with project management is preferred. Experience in identifying, evaluating and controlling EHS risks in the workplace are required. Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required. Experience with engineering documentation packaging software is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to manage and successfully meet goals and objectives are required. Green belt certification in Process Excellence is preferred.
This position is located in Lancaster, PA and may require up to 10% domestic travel as required by the business.
