Description

Johnson & Johnson Group of Consumer Companies, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Director of Packaging Strategic Sourcing, within the McNeil US OTC Procurement Organization based in Fort Washington, PA.

McNeil Consumer Healthcare develops and markets over the counter (OTC) products that address the needs of consumers and health care professionals and incorporate the latest innovations. The portfolio includes heritage brands TYLENOL®, ZYRTEC®, PEPCID® and MOTRIN®, as well as several additional brands

The Director of Packaging Strategic Sourcing will provide McNeil Consumer Healthcare with leadership for direct packaging material and purchasing interactions across all McNeil sites and McNeil External Manufacturers (as required). This role is responsible for the design and the delivery of direct packaging supplies from external suppliers to US McNeil businesses, and to ensure the process is executed in a reliable, effective and efficient manner. Additionally, this role is responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan, including innovation, continuous improvements to service, cost and process design, targeting and executing rigorous cost savings initiatives that maintain and improve reliability, functionality or quality of the packaging supplies.

While focusing first on establishing reliable and compliant external supply, The Director of Packaging will provide the leadership role for supplier quality, process excellence and global sourcing, ensure alignment with new product development, new business development, marketing, packaging engineering and supply side functions to ensure that new products are introduced in a manner that exceeds customer expectations. The role will provide an integral contribution to successful launch of multiple product lines over the coming years including the introduction of numerous products. In addition, the individual will provide sufficient Procurement expertise, including industry/supplier/materials knowledge, project management, analytical, and influencing skills, to enable his/her team to implement regional and/or global sourcing strategies that support broader J&J supply chain initiatives and will ensures cross-site compliance with global agreements. The person would primarily focus on the US business but would also engage with the global packaging enterprise to ensure consistency and best practices.

This Director of Packaging will identify critical packaging components and/or suppliers and ensure that appropriate business continuity plans are developed and approved by Procurement and Supply Chain senior leadership. The role will be accountable to lead Business Plan as well as all financial reviews associated with the Packaging category, as well as consolidating PPV analysis for the Packaging Category across McNeil businesses. The Director of Packaging will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing supplier performance and developing recommendations and implementing action plans that resolve and/or minimize supplier related service issues and lead efforts to improve on time, on quantity, on quality performance.

The Director of Packaging will focus on people development, and ensuring that the group has defined succession planning and career development purposes and plans. This individual will mentor and instruct staff on the fundamentals of contract management, commodity management, and participation in new supplier selection and negotiations.

The individual will ensure compliance with Corporate Strategic Strategies and Initiatives and supervise and develop Procurement Managers to execute strategies aligned to business objectives, identify and develop mitigation plans while providing leadership in contract development and negotiations. This role will be responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to the next management level, ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance, cGMP training and for ensuring that subordinates follow all company guidelines and policies including cGMP and McNeil Consent Decree.

The role reports to the CPO, McNeil Consumer Healthcare and will interact with the J&J Enterprise Procurement function.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required. A focused degree in Business, Science or a related technical area is preferred. MBA or advanced degree is preferred. A minimum of 12 years of overall experience is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience with Direct Procurement, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering Management and/or Internal or External Manufacturing functions is required. A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience is required. Demonstrated experience managing projects is required. Consent Decree experience is a strong plus. Experience in a matrix environment, regional cross-functional and/or global teams and GMP manufacturing environments is required. Demonstrated experience in contract development and strong negotiation capabilities are required. Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence Tools, Training and/or Certification is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Experience with SAP and other MRP/ERP Software is preferred. Project Management Training and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified experience is preferred.

A strong sense of urgency, a practical, results oriented approach, coupled with the ability to communicate and engage effectively across multiple functions is required. Strong leadership and partnering skills to provide solid business and product-focused conclusions and recommendations are required. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate across different levels of the internal community and with our external partners are required. The ability to influence and constructively challenge cross-functional project teams and business partners to achieve project goals is required. A proven track record of meeting the project objectives by successfully managing, tracking and implementing successful strategies in regards to scope, quality, time and cost is required.

This position may require up to 25% domestic and international travel and is based in Fort Washington, PA.
