DePuy Synthes Joint Reconstruction is the Joint Reconstruction business offering orthopaedic devices, solutions and supplies for hip, knee and extremity reconstruction, in addition to cement and operating room products.
The Engineering Team Leader will play a key role in developing and implementing processes for the manufacture of machined and highly polished products. The successful candidate will lead and participate on cross-functional teams concentrating on the improvement of existing products and processes along with the launch of new products. This will include leading and participating on teams with the Lean and Product Development, CIP teams and the Quality group for the successful qualification of the product and process for improved manufacturability. The candidate will work with other manufacturing, process and quality engineers to develop new technology and processes ensuring compliance with approved methods and quality standards.
The successful candidate will provide manufacturing engineering leadership and support to the Polish Production Cell, ensures compliance with all FDA, ISO, quality, safety and environmental regulations and initiatives and lead or assist with projects to in-load or transfer products. This would Include review of designs for manufacturability, define tooling requirements and developing manufacturing process with project team members. The candidate is responsible for coordinating development and validation activities for manufacturing processes. The Team Leader will also develop the strategic plan for the Cost Reduction and Process Development for the Polish Department including: initiate and lead process and product improvement programs for cycle time, cost reduction, safety and quality improvement.
Quality and process improvements will be driven by effectively utilizing Process Excellence and Lean tools and detailed process understanding tools to improve operations in the Polish cell. The Team Leader will work with their team to develop the strategic and tactical goals for the department and work on cross site teams to drive World Wide alignment and build best practices throughout the DePuy Synthes company. The candidate must be able to troubleshoot and resolve complex manufacturing process issues, develop and implement detailed project plans, develop and institute cost improvement programs and be able to apply engineering and quality principles in support of manufacturing. A track record of successful leadership in developing talent, building strong teams, and working in a highly regulated environment are critical for this position. The candidate will also possess the ability to read, interpret, and utilize engineering drawings and electronic data for product and process development.
Qualifications
A minimum of a B.S. in Engineering required. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or an advanced degree is preferred. A minimum of 6 years experience in manufacturing or engineering is required. Leadership of complex projects and project completion is required. Prior supervisory experience and team development experience strongly preferred. CNC machining experience and a UG cad- cam background strongly preferred. Candidates with metal polishing experience are a plus. Knowledge of process validations, process mapping and CMM programming are preferred assets. GD&T (Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) is required. Process excellence is preferred. This position requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to perform effectively in a team environment. Problem solving experience is required. Proficiency in MS Office is required. A medical device and regulated work environment background preferred.
The position is located in Raynham, MA and it is required for the candidate to possess the ability to travel up to 10%.
