JOB TITLE: Equipment Design Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

JOB PURPOSE:
To collaborate and provide design expertise in the design, manufacture, documentation, and continuous improvement of automated equipment and systems for the production of medical devices.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design of new production equipment suited for high volume medical device manufacturing and modifying / upgrading of existing production equipment in 3D and 2D using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Ensure documentation/drawing standards for equipment to meet company requirements.
• Liaise with all stakeholders during initial equipment development, including production and quality, so that internal customer expectations are met.
• Ensure equipment meets CE marking and ergonomic standards using applicable EN standards and directives to ensure that equipment is CE compliant.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure leading industry best practice is applied
• Evaluates in conjunction with EHS new equipment/processes/chemicals for environmental impact/effect to eliminate or lessen such impacts/effects.
• Generation of quotations to cover the mechanical and electrical portions of equipment design and build projects.
• Work closely with machine builders and equipment suppliers in order to ensure that the equipment is built according to specifications.
• Prepare all supporting documentation including BOMs, manuals and mechanical & electrical assembly drawings.
• Produce project plans and reports to manage the design and build projects.
• Complete project deliverables and monitor project schedule and scope changes to ensure team can meet delivery requirements.
• Prepare and execute the appropriate equipment validations.
KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within an automated equipment design in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience of AutoCAD/Inventor, Automation Systems and Design, Workshop Equipment, and Machine Building will be essential.
• Experience in external supplier management
• Familiarity with operating in a highly regulated environment with exposure to ISO13485 and FDA environment.
• Good organizational skills, shows attention to detail.
• Strong time management focus.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Good, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Drive, energy and enthusiasm for delivering to commitments.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills with emphasis on clear reporting
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL: 3rd Level Degree in Engineering.
Desirable: Masters in Engineering and / or Business Administration
