The Staff Facilities Engineer (SFE) is part of the Engineering Shared Services group which supports pharmaceutical manufacturing facility improvements. This position is required to lead and manage facilities and utilities capital projects, support end-to-end system ownership, and provide subject matter expertise for facilities systems. The SFE will drive the design and execution of facility capital projects, with focus on standardization through assets types, and driving efficiency through the equipment procurement, automation strategy, installation, commissioning and qualification, and operation. The SFE also provides support to the facility maintenance team to maintain facilities systems in a safe and reliable state through the system lifecycle. The SFE will partner with the manufacturing business units and other departments to drive site objectives and meet compliance requirements. This position also needs to help to develop facilities automation knowledge and expertise (such as EMS/BMS Systems or similar) across the Engineering Department and other support functions in the facility.
The Staff Facilities Engineer will partner and collaborate extensively with the manufacturing business unit teams and other departments to develop and deliver facilities/utilities project improvements. This individual will analyze and provide corrective action recommendations for proposed equipment upgrades/modifications. Implement lean manufacturing, cost effective solutions to reduce operating costs and meet GMP and safety requirements. S/he will facilitate communications between vendors, design firms and customers for equipment/material purchases, retrofit or facilities work. S/he will generate, coordinate, and manage engineering change control and other required documentation, including equipment and facility drawings; generate equipment test plans for qualification. Develop and manage department budget to include capital, OPEX, and utilities. This individual will complete all requisite training/education classess, i.e. cGMP, safety, and compliance as well as keep current with pharmaceutical industry standards, regulations and innovations. This individual will mentor junior engineers, interns, co-ops ensuring their work meets standards and requirements.
Qualifications
It is required the Staff Facilities Engineer (SFE) possess a minimum of a BA / BS Degree in Engineering or related field. An Advanced degree is preferred. It is required to possess a minimum of 9 – 12 years of related experience. It is required to possess experience managing budgets/financial aspects: project and capital projects and developing CARs (Capital Appropriation Requests). It is required to possess experience developing and executing short and long range project planning. It is required to possess expertise in one or more of the following functional areas: Facilities/Utilities Engineering, Project Management, Engineering Validation, Equipment or Quality Engineering. The position is required to have experience supporting manufacturing and/or facilities (e.g. facilities, utilities, projects, equipment). It is required to possess knowledge and experience in a regulated environment, preferably cGMP. The position is located in Vacaville, CA and requires up to 5% domestic and international travel.
