Ethicon Surgical Care is presently recruiting for a Sr. Manager, Downstream Bariatric & Metabolic. This position will be located in either Cincinnati, OH or Somerville, NJ.
The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies—including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices—that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women’s health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon Surgical Care business combines products and services of two market-leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and effectiveness of open surgery. Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. was created 20 years ago in Cincinnati, Ohio, developing innovative devices that have driven the revolutionary shift from open to minimally invasive surgery that continues to lead the industry today.
The Sr. Manager, Downstream Bariatric & Metabolic, Global Strategic Marketing will be responsible for development and implementation of global procedure marketing strategy and driving tactical execution for maximizing procedure growth of bariatric & metabolic surgery. He/she will partner closely with regional marketing counterparts to ensure they are informed and aligned with global strategy, understand market dynamics, and identify growth opportunities. Sr. Marketing Manager also will work closely with Key Customers, R&D, Clinical/Medical and Finance in identifying emerging, unmet surgical needs; evaluating emerging evidence; and providing direction for global growth opportunities. This person will also collaborate with the Global Market Research to assess insights, key messages and materials, marketplace dynamics, etc., to ensure that the stakeholders' voices are brought to the broader team.
Additional responsibility may include new product launches; collaboration with key customers and key opinion leaders during internal and field based customer events; development and implementation of comprehensive marketing communication programs; convention strategy and support; conducting assessments on new market opportunities and creating new market entry strategies; assessing the need and driving the development of new clinical and marketing claims. This person will ensure applicable company compliance with all relevant country and regional requirements, company regulations, policies and procedures. This position reports to the Director, Downstream Bariatric & Metabolic within Global Strategic Marketing (GSM).
The ideal candidate is a marketing generalist with a strategic mindset and first-hand knowledge of the bariatric market, hands-on implementation experience garnered from roles as a CPG or Healthcare marketer or agency experience.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree is required; an MBA or Master’s degree is a plus. A minimum of 7 years’ experience working exclusively in marketing is required. Marketing experience in Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Consumer Packaged Goods, Healthcare Marketer or Agency is preferred. Experience in the area of bariatric & metabolic (obesity) is preferred. Proven ability to work in a matrix organization required. Excellent cross functional and management influencing skills and ability to develop customer relationships required. Experience with, global brand management, influencing a medical device sales force and new product launch preferred. Up to 30% local and global travel required.
