Description

Noramco Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Business Excellence Manager, located in Athens, GA.

Noramco, Inc. produces a variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients and is a major worldwide producer of medicinal analgesics, pharmaceutical intermediates and synthetic fine organic chemicals. It also produces monomers and polymers for pharmaceutical and medical devices.

The Business Excellence Manager will provide site specific leadership for the deployment of PE/LEAN to deliver superior business results. Responsible for the establishment and implementation of standard processes that ensure quality targets are achieved or exceeded. The position has a direct contribution to the development of business and/or functional strategies. This position reports directly to the Athens General Manager.

This individual will partner with Athens Site Leadership Team to develop a site-wide strategy and approach to PE/LEAN deployment. Drive site in implementing PE/LEAN philosophy (i.e. process management, measures and improvement). Provide an effective approach for site level direction and consultation on PE/LEAN project selection, project scopes, and methods and results during project development and implementation. Maintain a PE/LEAN project selection criteria that aligns improvement projects with business strategy and goals. Support teams on complex project execution – using tools, initiating change, and applying sound improvement methodology. Effectively organize strategies and systems to develop and track project schedules. Train and coach site personnel on use of Process Excellence process tools: DMAI2C, Lean Thinking, and Design Excellence. Partner with Finance to verify and validate project savings. Assist in the application of appropriate controls to monitor and maintain results and foster continuous improvement. Develop and update metrics around Process Excellence. Assure Black Belts and Green Belts have appropriate support through the certification process. Develop and deliver PE/LEAN training as required. Coordinate PE/LEAN deployment with the Noramco Wilmington location aligned with JSC and JJSC strategies. Lead the site Lean Maturity Assessment process.

The Business Excellence Manager position requires a high degree of interaction with Site Management Team members and site personnel representing all functional groups. Serve as the sites’ PE representative within the JSC and JJSC global organization. Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including FDA, ISO, EPA, OSHA and DEA. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures. Follow all aspects of the site Environmental Management System as it pertains to normal job duties. Understands and responsibly performs duties with attention to quality, safety and environmental matters. Items include; wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, recognizing, reporting and appropriately responding to hazards in the work area (spills/accidents/near misses), and maintaining proper housekeeping at all times. Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements. Leads or serves on various committees and teams to enhance business results. This individual will need to be available for other duties as required.

The Business Excellence Manager will read, analyze, and interpret complex documents including business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, speeches and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to sensitive inquiries. Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, statistical process control and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Use computer software, both word processing and mathematical applications, to meet business needs.

Qualifications


Bachelor Degree required; preferably in Business, Science, or Engineering discipline. Minimum 7 years of Business Excellence, Process Excellence and/or related experience. Minimum five years working experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably within the pharmaceuticals/chemicals industry required. Must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of facilitating/implementing successful PE/Lean continuous improvement projects. Trained in Process Excellence/Six Sigma or LEAN Thinking required. Ability to multi-task and perform a variety of duties with the ability to change tasks without a loss of productivity is required. Approximately 10% travel will be required. Must be flexible to work outside normal working hours on a scheduled or emergency basis. Demonstrated effective leadership and team-building skills required.

Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and chemical processing principles highly preferred. Working knowledge of safety and environmental procedures highly preferred. Certification in a Continuous Improvement discipline highly preferred. Experience with project management and statistical software highly preferred. Strong working knowledge of FDA regulations and GMP guidelines is highly preferred.
