Description
Ethicon, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Parts Fabricator, located in San Angelo, TX.
The Parts Fabricator - 3rd Shift will be responsible for operating machinery to produce and repair parts, tools and equipment using sketches, prints or instructions manuals. This individual will be accountable for adhering to all quality and safety guidelines within the Automated Parts Manufacturing department. Read diagrams, sketches, blueprints, operation manuals and manufacturing specifications related to assigned equipment. Maintain accurate records via computer management systems and/or via manual systems by inputting and retrieving maintenance data and other pertinent data following standard procedures. Assure that all maintenance work performed on said equipment and spare parts used are captured in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Interpret computer based diagnostic data for predictive maintenance and other applications. Utilize trade knowledge and familiarity equipment for leading a continuous improvement program on specified equipment, including recommending, and participating in equipment improvements, PM (Preventative Maintenance) process improvements, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) tracking/trending. Follow current compliance regulations and standards. Work in accordance with ISO 14001 principles, environmental regulatory compliance requirements and Ethicon environmental policies and procedures. Independently recognize and solve problems with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure on breakdowns and works towards effectively managing deadlines in completing breakdown, maintenance and project activities. Maintain general housekeeping within the department, keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly. Maintain inventory of spare parts and notify supervisor when parts are needed. Interface with appropriate manufacturing representatives to ensure manufacturing operations and projects receive effective technical support.
The Parts Fabricator will also be responsible for machining to tolerances of at least .001". Work from simple sketches, verbal instructions and fabricate similar or modified parts utilizing existing sample parts for patterns. Understand blueprints for the purpose of fabrication of and/or repair of simple machine components. With direction, lays out work for machining and fitting. Perform necessary bench work using proper tools in the process of making finished parts to specified tolerances. Assist other machinists in performing jobs requiring assistance in lifting, handling, component disassembly, etc. Avoid waste of raw materials in doing work. Work as member of the Manufacturing Equipment Excellence (ME2) team to achieve specific ME2 goals. Attend and successfully complete required training as well as keeping abreast of changes in process control methods and practices. This position pays $17.74/hour and is under a Collective Bargaining Agreement in a union environment.
The San Angelo Plant is a 24/7 operation; weekends and holidays are included in the work schedule.
Qualifications
A minimum of a High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required. A minimum of 2 years of experience and/or training in the operation of machinery to produce or repair parts, tools and/or equipment is preferred. Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment preferred. Knowledge of design/drafting, with ability to understand schematic diagrams and blueprints is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred. Experience retrieving work orders from Maximo preferred. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a team player and be able to work with minimal technical supervision. Process Excellence experience preferred. Must be willing to obtain Yellow Belt training/certification. Basic math skills, with the ability to add, subtract, divide, compute percentages and work with decimals and fractions, required. Must have the ability read, interpret and follow work instructions and training materials. Experience with automated equipment preferred. Knowledge of the machinist handbook is preferred. Experience operating vertical mills, horizontal lathes, EDM machines, grinders, CNC milling machines and CNC lathes preferred. Must have the ability to work with close tolerances of +/-0.0001 for all machining operations. The ability to produce finished tooling and parts using micrometers, vernier calipers and optical comparators is preferred. Welding experience preferred. Must be a certified forklift operator or be willing to become certified. Must be able to work 3rd shift (11:00 pm - 7:30 am). The ability to work overtime, weekends and some holidays as needed by business is required. Successful completion of WORKKEYS with scores of (5) or higher on all required modules is required.
