The Senior Engineer Manufacturing & Facilities is primarily responsible to lead the implementation of manufacturing equipment, new technology, automation, and engineering design for capital projects in a liquid process and filling plant within an FDA/cGMP compliant environment. The objective of projects will be to improve manufacturing efficiency, reliability, compliance and/or capacity. Projects will be related to facilities or equipment used in the Los Angeles Plant (LAP) Manufacturing site, including compounding, filling/packing area, facilities, and warehouses. The Senior Engineer Manufacturing & Facilities leads on equipment selection or solution, design, integration, capital justification, project management, specifications, drawings, installation, commissioning, qualification, calibration, and maintenance turnover.

The Senior Engineer Manufacturing & Facilities is responsible to ensure projects meet and comply with LAP’s policies, procedures, quality, EHS/FDA regulatory, and industry standards. This individual will lead and develop all aspects of engineering capital projects and requests. S/he will implement manufacturing equipment capital projects in the categories of compliance, capacity increase, process improvement, and cost improvement. S/he will lead or prepare user requirements, functional requirements, and design specifications. This individual will lead or perform testing of specifications of equipment and/or components. S/he will be responsible to prepare and manage request for quotations. S/he will manage change control for equipment changes and lead project deliverables. This individual will lead projects with cross functional alignment with core team members and stakeholders. S/he will manage project cost, timeline, scope, and communication with project team including vendors. This individual will be the Site Sponsor for any vendors related to project work

The Senior Engineer Manufacturing & Facilities will follow finance & procurement procedures for cost tracking, adherence to budgets, soliciting of bids, purchasing, and contracts. This individual will provide functional team support and manufacturing troubleshooting support as required. S/he will collect data/information, cultivates resources, and conducts assessments as required for projects.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent engineering degree is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineer is preferred. A minimum 3 years work experience in Engineering or Capital Project implementation or related field is required. Hands on working experience in a highly regulated FDA/GMP environment is preferred. Hands on experience with capital project justification, execution, and multiple project management is preferred. The successful candidate should have hands on experience with specifications and contract writing, bidding, purchasing, factory acceptance, and commissioning. A proven track record of supervision of contractors during the implementation of projects is preferred. Hands on experience and successful development/installation of mixers/ kettles and filling/packaging machinery are preferred. Experience with installation of process and/or mechanical piping/systems in compounding or process industry is preferred. The successful candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills. The position is located in Los Angeles, CA and may require <10% travel.
