Description

Ethicon, Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is currently recruiting for a Wire Drawer Equipment Operator located in Somerville, NJ.

The Wire Drawer Equipment Operator will be responsible for drawing and annealing wire rods of various alloys to produce needle wires of a wide range of diameters to exacting quality standards in accordance with applicable specifications. Process wire rods through preprocessing operation. Set-up and operate all drawing equipment, perform required quality checks and adjust machines as necessary. Set-up and operate strand annealing lines, performs quality checks and adjusts lines as necessary. Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly. Perform any other work, related in nature, to assure efficient machine operation and maintenance of production schedule. Perform operator preventative maintenance. Assist craft support as directed by supervisor. Ensure compliance to GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) as it pertains to daily activities within Ethicon.

The Wire Drawer Equipment Operator will also be responsible for using equipment for the assembly and processing tasks to produce finished products according to established specifications. Adhere to all quality and safety guidelines. Operate production equipment to produce sub-assemblies or finished products. Assist with set-up of equipment. Assist with quality control inspections of products on assembly line. Clean equipment as needed. Notify supervisor of maintenance and/or repairs needed on equipment. Prepare accurate records/documentation related to work in progress. Report production problems to supervisor.

This position pays $25.76/hour and is under a Collective Bargaining Agreement in a union environment.

Qualifications


A minimum of a High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required. Trade school preferred. A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience working in a Medical Device manufacturing environment preferred. Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment preferred. Basic computer skills required. Industrial operations experience preferred. Metal working experience preferred. General inspection experience preferred. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be detail-oriented and have strong analytical problem solving skills. Basic math skills, with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute percentages and work with decimals and fractions required. Experience with the following equipment preferred: wire drawing equipment, forklift, overhead crane, Torrington-type swager, butt welder. Must be a certified Forklift Operator or be willing to become certified. Experience with shipment identification and in process quality record keeping preferred. The ability to evaluate tool quality and machine performance, and make machine settings using micrometers, tachometers and other instruments required. The ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds unaided is required. This position requires the ability to work rotating 8-hour shifts (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm and 11:00 pm - 7:30 am). The ability to work occasional overtime and some holidays is required.
