The Sr. Team Leader is responsible for supervising all activities of the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory staff. This individual will comply with Neutrogena's policies, procedures, and quality standards as well as safety and environmental regulations. The Sr. Team Leader will supervise the activities of assigned personnel. Establishes priorities and work schedules with other Team Leaders. Evaluates the performance of assigned personnel according to Company policy. The Sr. Team Leader will assure the laboratory operates in a compliant manner consistent with cGMP’s and other internal standards. He/she will review and approve laboratory data generated by Analytical Scientists and Lab Technicians for completeness and accuracy. This individual will supervise and facilitate the workload through the QC Analytical Laboratory to best meet company objectives.
This individual will assure the Analytical laboratory operates in compliance with company safety standards. This individual will interact with various internal departments and external divisions on a routine basis to coordinate manufacturing, release, stability, development, and validation efforts. He/she will provide technical direction, mentoring, and on-going training to direct reports. He/she will provide timely performance reviews and feedback to direct reports. The Sr. Team Leader will assist QA Laboratory Manager with performance and development needs of Analytical Scientists and Lab Technicians. He/she will assist QA Laboratory Manager with staffing and recruitment needs of the team. This individual will perform appropriate training of laboratory employees in their job functions, provide quality systems and task training, and report laboratory metrics. This individual will also provide oversight and assist activities of more junior personnel as required by laboratory management. The Sr. Team Leader will supervise the activities of QC Analytical Scientists and Lab Assistants. This individual will perform final review of all Analytical test samples (components, raw materials, in-process bulk, finished product, commercial stability, method transfer, process validation, and cleaning validation) for the Neutrogena Los Angeles facility to provide a high degree of assurance that all data is handled, managed, and released in a technically competent, compliant and efficient manner.
This position requires thorough knowledge of domestic and international requirements, the ability to interact with other departments, and excellent written and oral communication skills. This position interacts with various internal departments and external divisions on a routine basis to coordinate manufacturing, release, stability, development, and validation efforts.
He/she will adhere to strict compliance with procedures applicable to the role. This individual will exercise the highest level of integrity in the tasks performed. In a timely and prompt manner the Sr. Team Leader will identify, report and seek correction for deviations noted in the laboratory workplace. He/she will embrace a behavior of employee involvement and commitment to doing the job right the first time. He/she will ensure employees under their scope of responsibility are trained in required procedures for the execution of their role and maintain current with training requirements during the year. They will promote an environment of employee involvement in the workplace; and seek prompt identification, reporting and correction of deviations in the workplace as noted by employees. He/she will perform investigations on OOS/OOT results in accordance with company procedures. This includes developing investigative protocols and evaluating and documenting results. This individual will support the qualification and introduction of lab equipment and support equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and service plans. In addition, this individual will ensure that the laboratory inventory is maintained as needed. They will provide testing support in the QC Analytical Laboratory. This position substitutes for the Laboratory Manager for Analytical laboratories in his/her absence and acts as technical advisor for analytical and raw material testing issues. He/she will identify and implement opportunities to improve the laboratory compliance profile and laboratory efficiency. The Sr. Team Leader will prepare, review, and SOP’s. This individual will assure laboratory testing metrics are maintained. The Sr. Team Leader will perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Degree in science or engineering, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is highly preferred. A minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience in a QC, analytical laboratory experience is required. A minimum of 7 years of experience in a cGMP regulated industry experience is required. Experience in broad-based, or combination of experience, in pharmaceutical manufacturing, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Regulatory Compliance or Regulatory Affairs function is preferred. Significant knowledge of US and European regulations of the Pharmaceutical Industry is required. Experience in employee supervision is required.
The successful candidate must be familiar with stability testing, instrument qualification and maintenance, and have a working knowledge of the USP-NF. Knowledge and experience with HPLC analysis required. Experience with other instrumentation such as ICP, GC, and FTIR preferred. Experience in conducting laboratory investigations required. Must have the ability to lead and develop lab analysts. Must be professional and ethical in all activities and relations. Must demonstrate through example and maintain a positive attitude. Must exhibit the initiative to take on individual projects, eliminate roadblocks and see them through to completion. Must be capable of working both independently and as a team member. Needs to have the ability to work and communicate well with personnel in different departments and at various levels of responsibility. Ability to assist with regulatory inspections of laboratory operations is preferred.
This position requires collaborative conjunction with management to develop or improve methodologies. This individual will be able to understand process criteria and regulations and business impact of decisions and actions. Strong attention to detail, sense of ownership, and sense of urgency are also required. Ability to work independently with little guidance is required. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with upper management on analytical issues is required. This position is located in Los Angeles, California and requires the candidate to work professional work schedule. As the business requires, this candidate will need to cover off shifts for the lab, supporting a 24/7 facility operations.
