ROLE SUMMARY
The Maintenance Manager based in Guelph, ON at McNeil Consumer Healthcare, provides management, direction and resource allocation necessary to set-up, operate, adjust, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing and utilities equipment supporting manufacturing processes. The Maintenance Manager is also responsible for, but not limited to: developing and implementing standardized operating processes, procedures, and practices for the maintenance team; providing strategic leadership for maintenance excellence program and partnering with manufacturing and engineering to provide optimal life cycle costs for manufacturing and utility equipment. The incumbent will work closely with their direct reports and Finance in the development and control of business strategy and plan, make decisions and provide direction to ensure uninterrupted service, act as technical lead and partner with Engineering and Quality group to ensure compliance and product quality.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend GMP training on the schedule designated for this role and as appropriate
Adhere to strict compliance with procedures applicable to this role.

In a timely and prompt manner, identify, report and seek correction for deviations noted in the workplace.

Seek prompt identification, reporting and correction of deviations in the workplace as noted by employees.
Equipment Set up, Start-up checks, Trouble shooting, and repair:
Provides oversight and strategic leadership for the following:
Manufacturing & facility maintenance activities.
Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities (transactions, conducting and closing) including SAP activities.
Escalate issues as appropriate to management for resolution.
Ensures adherence to standard operating procedures and guidelines for maintenance activities.
Establishes and reviews metrics for maintenance excellence.
Ensure maintenance execution of a combination of manual tasks including but not limited to sorting, inspecting, assembling, and mechanical servicing.
Accurately complete paperwork and electronic transactions for all documentation requirements including but not limited to SAP transaction, paper and electronic logbooks.
Ensures team is fully trained and licensed for all applicable trades and equipment requirements.
Ensure environmental health and safety procedures are communicated, understood and adhered to during startup, shutdown, trouble shooting, and operation of equipment.
Equipment Cleaning & Housekeeping
Ensure maintenance teams perform activities related to maintenance equipment cleaning activities, including 5S activities for all maintenance areas.
Ensure team collaboration and execution of clean equipment and workspace area initiatives.
Calibration
Ensure that all calibrations are tracked and performed as required. Oversee reliability engineer to optimize calibration program.
APR
Collects and provides required APR/PQR quality attribute data and an analysis of the data per established templates and work instructions
Systems Knowledge
Be a Power User in the applicable systems and roles assigned.
Trained to the role that is assigned as required for job function in the applicable systems
Training
Ensure that all department personnel are trained and in compliance with required qualifications to perform the activities relevant to their position.
Can act as SME and be a curriculum owner.
Partner with training department to create new and/or update existing training materials as required.
Investigations
Ensures adequate resource availability to support investigations.
Participates in and writes investigations as required. Act as approver on investigations.
Compliance – Safety, GMP, Facilities
Ensure employees under scope of responsibility are trained in required procedures for execution of their role and maintain current with training requirements during the year.
In a timely and prompt manner, seek identification, reporting and correction of deviations in the workplace as noted by employees.
Responsible for tracking and driving commitments (ZP, observations, etc.) to closure in a timely manner.
Attend GMP training on the schedule designated for the role and as appropriate for the role.

Strong working GMP knowledge. Communicates and identifies GMP gaps.
Process Excellence, Lean, Continuous Improvement, ME2
Completes Process Excellence/ Lean awareness training. Ensure that team actively participates and applies learnings from training.
Proactively identifies, evaluates, and prioritizes opportunities for continuous improvement. Facilitates team identification of these opportunities.
Drives implementation of continuous improvement actions and kaizen events. Acts as a champion for Process Excellence / Lean methodology and application of Lean concepts in work area. Supports team in application of lean concepts and methodology.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BS in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or technical related degree is required. Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is required.
Minimum 10 years of engineering, technical and/or operations experience is required. Experience working in FDA/cGMP compliance environment is required. Professional staff management and people development experience is required.
COMPETENCIES
Strong written and oral Communication skills is required.
Strong Presentation skills are preferred.
