The ETHICON Global Health Economics & Market Access Center of Excellence (COE) works in close collaboration with its partners in R&D and Global Strategic Marketing. The Global Health Economics & Market Access COE works to ensure competitive advantage & market access in a value based Global healthcare market by developing and executing systematic approaches that integrate health economics, outcomes research & market access solutions across all stages of the product lifecycle with special focus on innovation and new product development.
The Associate Director, Global Health Economics & Market Access is a key position within the COE and will work to support the business objectives of the ETHICON with dedicated responsibility for specific assigned Business Units and or Platforms. The Associate Director of GHEMA will work to ensure that market access requirements are understood and built-in to ETHICON’s innovation strategy and new product pipeline through Target Product Profiles and Value Propositions that reflect the needs of non-clinical customers and the development and execution lifecycle evidence of value and market access strategies that enable market access and commercial success.
Required skills sets include health services research, health economics, outcomes research, market access, health policy and reimbursement. Global experience is desirable and strong communication skills required as is the ability to manage multiple projects. This position reports directly to the Director of GHEMA and will work in close collaboration with multiple internal partners and stakeholders. The Associate Director will assist in the planning and execution of health economic and outcomes studies to support the GSG businesses and the development and execution of global market access strategies in support of Business Unit and or Platform objectives. Research activities may include but are not limited to burden of illness, retrospective database studies, creation of global economic models and value messaging, patient reported outcomes development and analysis, interpretation of economic, satisfaction and QOL endpoints and results. Market access activities may include but are not limited to assessing market access needs/trends developing and executing required market access strategies to influence medical delivery systems to optimize market access and commercial success. The Associate Director will work with regional HEMA to identify healthcare systems opportunities and potential barriers to access. The Associate Director will participate on appropriate Global and Regional Councils. The Associate Director of GHEMA will be a member and contributor to the COE and various project teams.
Successful candidate will work closely with multiple cross functional partners, including R&D, GSM, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regional GGHEMA & Marketing, Regulatory Affairs and Legal.
Qualifications
An advanced degree (such as MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in health economics or outcomes research or healthcare related field is required. A minimum of 3 years of experience in Healthcare Industry is required. Experience planning and executing health economic and outcomes research studies from concept through publication (including management of research vendors or consultants) is required. Strong understanding of medical delivery systems, reimbursement, market access conditions and health policy trends in major Global markets is preferred. Solid knowledge of evidence requirements that impact reimbursement and market access is required. Ability to work from strategy development through to execution and value creation in a dynamic organization is required. Global experience is preferred. Domestic and global travel of up to 30% is required for this position.
