Description
Noramco Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Planner/Buyer located in Athens, GA.
Noramco, Inc. produces a variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients and is a major worldwide producer of medicinal analgesics, pharmaceutical intermediates and synthetic fine organic chemicals. It also produces monomers and polymers for pharmaceutical and medical devices.
The planner/buyers is responsible for the effective coordination of the material planning, direct material purchasing, and production scheduling function to ensure timely delivery to meet customer requirements, company inventory investment, and service level targets.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Plan production at a master scheduling and detailed scheduling level. Interface with internal and external customers for demand information supporting the Master Production Scheduling horizon of current year plus 2. For designated products, create sales orders and coordinate the distribution plan. Collaborate and partner with site operations on renewal of master plan and agreed volume performance. Contribute to Sales and Operation Planning process (S&OP) providing key input (production demand/inventory) for assigned products. Collaborate and partner with operations to ensure accurate bill of materials, recipes, cycle times, and other critical standards that determine cost of goods sold. Maintain, administer, and update customer service level agreements. Sources and purchases direct materials supporting the production plan. Prepares purchase orders. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery for standard purchases. Strive for zero accounts payable mismatches to ensure timely payment of invoices. When issues do arise, takes appropriate action to resolve discrepancies immediately. Support Strategic Sourcing initiatives and supplier performance data. Compiles and summarizes statistical data used to determine buying trends/volumes and establish price objectives and/or opportunities. Identifies potential suppliers and evaluates their capability, service, cost and overall suitability. Interface with warehouse, quality, finance, and operations for receipt of raw materials, return goods, inventory projections, capacity utilization and other required company reporting. Takes appropriate action in resolving discrepancies in order quantity, price and seeks corrective action on late deliveries.
The planner/buyer observes, complies with and promotes all regulatory requirements as defined per applicable regulations, rules and procedures established by the Company, and notifies any violation or deviation to the immediate supervisor or appropriate authority. This shall include compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including FDA, EPA, OSHA and DEA. Assume responsibility for the environmental effects of work performed and for the identification and recording of environmental problems as they arise. Follow all applicable aspects of the site Environmental Management System as it pertains to normal job duties.
Understand and perform duties with attention to quality, safety and environmental matters. Items include wearing appropriate personal protective equipment; recognizing, reporting and appropriately responding to hazards in the work area (spills/accidents/near misses); maintaining proper housekeeping at all times; properly labeling and storing chemicals; and all other relevant job requirements. Successful and timely completion of all regulatory and job training requirements to perform duties of the job. Remains current in profession and industry trends. Participates on investigative teams and site group initiatives (e.g. Customer Complaints, Business Continuity Planning, Kaizen/LEAN teams, etc.). Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by making suggestions for improvement and continually learning new skills, procedures and processes. Is available for other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Procurement/Logistics or related area is required. A minimum of three years of direct work experience in Supply Chain Planning or Procurement role in a chemical, pharmaceutical, and/or food environment is required. Demonstrated working level knowledge and experience using a tier-one MRP/ERP system is required. Working experience with SAP and Advanced Planning System is highly preferred. Certification in APICS is desirable.
An understanding of production plant environments is required. Prefer knowledge of Chemical Manufacturing Operations. A clear understanding of Supply Chain concepts and strategies within a manufacturing environment. Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to drive results. Effective communication skills (written and oral) and demonstrated interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a focus on customer service. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners, internal and external. Demonstrated proficiency using standard Microsoft Office programs for e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations is required. Additional computer software program experience should include electronic systems/programs for purchasing, document management, compliance tracking and work order management. Works with others in a team environment. Performs in situations where speed of work and sustained attention are essential, performing a variety of tasks without loss of production.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.The employee is frequently required to stand and walk across the campus to interact with various groups. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision. Approximately 15% travel is required.
