The Director, Product Management is responsible for:

All Supply Chain related Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth objectives of assigned Platform/Business Unit.

Providing strong technical leadership, high level program management, and developing a robust pipeline of technical New Product Integration (NPI) and Life Cycle Management (LCM) leaders and engineers. Able to judge, manage, and develop technical managers who can drive decisions with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing.

Develop other key Operations managers who are responsible for development and commercialization activities and who represent end to end Supply Chain for all New Product Development projects, integration of New Products into Manufacturing and driving lifecycle management, sustaining activities, and other operations responsibilities. Able to judge supply chain leaders’ ability to create and sustain an end to end value chain while building a culture of continuous improvement.

Ensuring product development teams implement, support & deliver business results consistent with an aligned launch and stabilization strategy across the key NPD functions. Develop and execute against gross profit targets both pre and post launch, Stabilization targets, and overall growth strategies for a technology platform.

Representing the Platform/Business Unit to the Global Surgery and MD&D Supply Chain, including CLS, the PM Director identifies, communicates, and partners with supply chain to ensure current and future business requirements and business objectives are met. Expertise at achieving consistent business results in a highly matrixed environment.

Setting strategy and direction for the identification, development & implementation of manufacturing processes to enable the commercialization of new/revised products while delivering on key financial and stabilization targets.

Representing the Supply Chain inclusive of Quality and Operations on the Platform Leadership Team with responsibility to develop strategies to drive long term growth for the business, manage profitability and define product portfolio.

Engaging with a global management board or senior leadership team to drive key product management and/or supply chain initiatives.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

POLICIES: Know & follow business unit policies & procedures & assure that direct reports know & follow business unit policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility.

TRAINING: Complete training in area of responsibility & assure that direct reports are trained in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures. Complete required periodic re-training & assure that required periodic re-training takes place for direct reports in areas such as safety & environmental.

SAFETY: Set standards for safe behavior. Recognize & reward safe behavior in others. Ensure that direct reports employ safe practices. Enforce safety policies & procedures. Evaluate staff member’s safety performance & insure that safety is a part of each direct report’s OGSM. Provide resources (time & money) necessary to maintain safety process. Ensure safety structure is in place in form of working committees & department coordinators.

Establish / maintain a staff of highest caliber professionals with skill sets to bring world -class leadership to the business unit’s manufacturing technology.

Accountable for the product design to ensure it’s designed for manufacturability and stability.

Participate as a member of the business unit leadership team in defining long term strategy for the Business Unit.

Establish an overall business strategy & identify key technologies to advance competitiveness of the BU’s manufacturing in areas of materials, processes, sterile packaging, & sterilization

Develop world class metrics & assess manufacturing in areas of materials, processes, sterile packaging & sterilization

Creates value to Franchise, by ensuring the most efficient and effective “end to end supply chain” is in place for delivery of products/service, leveraging capabilities within franchise and across the sector.

Builds effective relationships across sector supply chain partners to ensure understanding of the voice of supplier requirements of sector supply chain (plan, source, make, deliver). Understands and can communicate critical control points in the end to end supply chain.

Acts as strong advocate for quality of continuous supply within the business unit leadership team or global management board.

Actively participates in CAPA management, escalations, management reviews as needed to support Quality processes.

Engages in due diligence and merger integrations as needed.

Identify / assess new material & process technologies that significantly enhance manufacturing capabilities of the Business Unit.

Provide technical & business leadership to accomplish objectives of special technical / manufacturing projects for the Business Unit.

Provide technical leadership & assistance to project teams & plants in areas of materials, processes, sterilization & sterile packaging

Provides management and technical direction to assigned functional “centers of excellence.” This line would encompass groups like facilities, service & repair, customer service, NPI, LCE, Packaging, and Labeling.

Develop & manage departmental budget

Qualifications


EDUCATION / DEGREE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree required with a degree in engineering or technical field required.

Advanced Engineering degree or MBA desirable.

JOB EXPERIENCE

10 years in a medical device or related business preferred

5 years direct technical service & / or engineering support to manufacturing preferred

5 years in a team leadership role, including experience in the development and introduction of new products.

KEY SKILL / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Manufacturing experience (accountable for manufacturing and to include experience with quality)

Experience in a completed cycle of new product development

Experience in life cycle engineering (maintained design intent)

Certification in GB DMAIIC required; BB preferred; GB DMADVV preferred, GB in Lean preferred

Project management mastery (eg., years of experience of project management) (5 yrs of several significant project mgmt. experiences required.) PMP certification preferred.

Demonstrated acumen in end to end supply chain management. CSCP (certified supply chain professional –APICs is preferred)

This position is located in Irwindale, Ca and requires approximately 25% travel, both domestic and international
