recruiting for a Area Director East. The Area Director East is preferred to reside or be willing to relocate Eastern US, preferably NY, Georgia, or Florida.

Vascular Disease is defined as a disease of the blood vessels (usually narrowing). It can happen in the heart (Cardiovascular Disease) or outside of the heart or brain (Peripheral Vascular Disease). Hundreds of millions of people globally have some type of vascular disease with only a small percentage actually ever being diagnosed. With the constant cadence of new products in the marketplace, the ability for us to provide our customers with safe & effective products in addition to driving the competency of our field force becomes critical to the treatment of patients within the cardiovascular field and for the success of our business.

Given this significant need and tremendous opportunity to help support the introduction of our products to our customers, we are searching for an individual to drive our US Sales activities in the Eastern United States Region.

The Area Director is responsible for the management of the sales team assigned to them. It is his/her responsibility to ensure that each group is performing their roles and responsibilities as required, providing a professional and knowledgeable interface with the healthcare community and generating revenues for Cordis at or above Cordis plan levels. He/she is also responsible for developing their team’s professional skills and knowledge. Ensures sales efforts achieve goals in the assigned territory and are aligned with company strategy, At this level, the position has a direct contribution to the development of business and/or functional strategies and typically, responsibility for managing multiple teams of professional.

The Area Director is responsible for developing and implementing Cordis commercial, field training, product and services marketing strategies and tactics through the field organization under his/her responsibility. The Area Director will develop and execute customer relationship strategies through his/her organization to ensure effective relationships with key clinical and commercial stakeholders. The Area Director will be responsible for developing strong customer relationships within the Area with key customers. The Area Director will also partner with internal stakeholders (e.g. Commercial Execution functions, Marketing, R&D, Global Education, etc.) to develop and execute Area strategic plans. The Area Director is also responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.

The Area Director will be responsible for assessing market conditions to develop and execute competitive strategies to grow market share in the Area in line with the Company's strategic direction. The Area Director will drive organizational development and change (e.g. organizational model changes, etc.). The Area Director is responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures. The Area Director must understand, adhere to, and hold team accountable for adherence to Company programs, policies and procedures (e.g. pricing models, expense reporting, compensation, healthcare compliance, etc.). The Area Director is responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition. The Area Director will manage the Field Sales Training (FST) program and Sales Advisory Councils and uncover enterprise needs and insights and translate into viable solutions that create value.

The Area Director will infuse the Johnson & Johnson Credo values and Cordis Company culture into the Area. The Area Director will coach and manage (directly) the performance and competency development of direct reports. The Area Director will oversee the competency development of the Area. Leads, coaches, motivates, and deploys staff of highly competent executives, managerial, and professional employees to effectively support the sales functions. Provides expertise on the market place to guide sales strategies. Develops and conducts sales campaigns to accommodate goals of the company. Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, prices schedules and discount rates. Ensures sales results achieve sales quotas, unit volumes, market share and profitability goals in the assigned area. Analyzes and controls expenditures of sales department to conform to budgetary requirements. Establishes and maintains contact with key strategic customers. Ensures that new accounts are identified, classified and acquired. Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume and potential sales. Participates in area and national trade shows and conventions. Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product. Develop and execute the Company’s direct sales strategy and sales plans within his/her assigned area to achieve territory sales revenue and budget objectives. Provide customer feedback on the Company’s products to Marketing. Recruit, manage and mentor a team of professional, experienced and premier employees in sales.

The Area Director will drive top line sales results in the Area of the US Sales organization, in line with the Business Plan - including defining and managing the monthly and annual sales objectives for all of the Area Sales and Cardiovascular Specialist personnel. The Area Director will meet and exceed sales and profit targets for the Area of the US Sales organization. Provide accurate sales forecasts, develop and execute tactical sales plans including quotas and account objectives. The Area Director will manage Area expense budget

The Area Director will participate as an active member of the US Sales, Marketing and Commercial Ops Team to ensure effective execution of global and national strategies at an Area level. The Area Director is responsible for proactive development of demand generation programs to always stay ahead and anticipate changes in order to deliver on commitments and will performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications


Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred; Minimum of 10 years professional work experience required; Minimum of 3 years of Sales Management experience in the US medical device industry required; Minimum of 2 years of business experience in the Cardiovascular industry preferred; Experience managing multi-functional teams (e.g. sales, clinical, etc.) preferred; Experience in managing turnaround situations preferred; Required to live within the area. Candidates must be willing, and able, to travel overnight nationally up to 50% which may include overnight and/or weekend travel. Must have valid driver's license in state of residence and clean driving record. Position requires periodic presence in a lab environment, must have ability to wear heavy lead protective aprons and other safety equipment in hospital/lab environment when required. Candidate is preferred to reside or be willing to relocate Eastern US, preferably NY, Georgia, or Florida.
