Product Identification & Traceability is a growing and exciting field in the Supply Chain IT organization. In response to regulatory requirements as well as diversion and counterfeiting impacting patient safety and revenue loss, J&J Supply Chain is implementing solutions to ensure authentic J&J products are delivered to our patients. The most common method is through serialization, i.e. assigning a unique serial number to any sellable unit, allowing for the unique identification of each unit in order to perform authentication, provide visibility and full traceability within the supply chain. Several regulatory agencies have issued legislation mandating the serialization of product, e.g. Turkey, USA, China, India, Korea, Brazil, whereas others will follow, e.g. the EU Falsified Medicines Directive, Vietnam, Singapore, etc. While mostly focused on Pharmaceuticals, some regulators have included OTC products in scope. Furthermore it is the expectation that after the publication of rules around Unique Device Identification, regulations for serialization and traceability of certain type of devices will be required soon after. Given the global needs and J&J’s global network for manufacturing and distribution, J&J is implementing an enterprise solution to manage serial numbers and ensure traceability of J&J’s products through the supply chain, internal and external manufacturing, distribution, 3PL’s, repackers and integration with commercial partners / governmental agencies.
This position will work across the Pharma, Consumer and MD&D sectors and across the SOURCE, MAKE and DELIVER domains.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the execution of projects within the Product Identification & Traceability domain in accordance with the SDLC, delivering on committed requirements and anticipated benefits. This individual will be responsible for supporting and at times leading a team that focuses on delivery of a project or sub-project within the program and work in close collaboration with the Application Services Supply Chain, IT Shared Services organizations and sector/site IT.
Specific responsibilities include: Responsible for creation and execution of project plans, complying with set user requirements. Act as project manager across all IT work-streams. Responsible for scope, time, budget, resources and quality management aspects of one or more projects. Ensure serialization deployments comply with the J&J serialization enterprise architecture document, and the approved serialization architecture and also comply with J&J policies for product serialization.
Additionally, the incumbent will build the Johnson & Johnson’s enterprise serialization IT backbone capabilities, based on SAP-AII/OER. He/she will work in close partnership with the IT partners in Application Services, IT Shared Services and liaison with peers in IT organization to ensure end-to-end implementation, i.e. for implementation of capability to handle serialized product in WMS (Warehouse Management System), integration of External Manufacturers, 3rd party logistics providers, and with peers in Commercial IT organizations. Providing periodic project status updates and attending applicable portfolio / project review meetings as necessary through the project lifecycle. Ensure successful transition to future Service Operation team. The position will be located in either in Raritan, NJ or Beerse, Belgium. Travel up to 20% is required.
