The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies—including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices—that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women’s health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Facilities Engineer will utilize electro mechanical, construction and/or architectural engineering disciplines in support of daily plant operations and for initiation, justification, implementation and follow up of projects within the facilities organization; understanding the systems, equipment, and processes associated with all physical building and utilizing that knowledge in the progression of facilities-related projects and troubleshooting facilities-related issues; acting as a leader on facilities-related project team(s) by driving the desired results meeting customer CTQs and business objectives; provide supervision and development of site Facilities Technicians and coordination of Contractor activities.

The Facilities Engineer will also know & follow EES policies & procedures; complete training in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures. Complete required periodic re-training. Set standards for safe behavior. Recognize & reward safe behavior in others. Enforce safety policies & procedures. Evaluate staff member’s safety performance & insure that safety is a part of each direct report’s GPMS. Provide resources (time & money) necessary to maintain safety process. Ensure safety structure is in place in form of working committees & department coordinators. In addition, the Facilities Engineer will coordinate and direct the activities of technical support staff (both in-house and outside) in order to achieve departmental objectives; provide technical support for design, development & implementation of facilities related projects; supervise, control, and/or monitor small facilities related projects from initiation through completion including planning, budget control, vendor selection & sign off; support safety, environmental & diversity programs by evaluating all projects relative to program requirements.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required. Masters Degree or Bachelor Degree in Engineering preferred. A minimum of Intermediate Microsoft Office skills are required. Up to two years of experience is preferred. Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to read and understand construction documents. Strong supervisory skills preferred. Knowledge of EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) / ISO (International Organization for Standardization) preferred. Experience in construction/machinery installation/plant systems preferred. Knowledge of Plant systems such as boilers, electrical, chillers, HVAC (Heating, ventilation & air conditioning), controls and energy management are preferred.

Position requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted. Presence throughout physical plant including roof, machinery & equipment (water tower) required. Presence on construction projects: climbing & exposure to noise, dust, debris required.

This position will be located in Albuquerque, New Mexico and may require up to 15% travel both domestically and internationally.
