The product line includes bar and liquid cleansers, shampoo, hand cream, body lotion, facial moisturizers, sun protection and cosmetics, as well as other hair and skin care products.
The Associate Maintenance Team Leader leads the Equipment/Systems Maintenance functions to assure reliable, cost effective manufacturing process and packaging operations in compliance with FDA guidelines and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure reliable, cost effective manufacturing process and packaging manufacturing operations. Responsibility includes the execution of Preventive Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance and Emergency work for manufacturing equipment/systems and R&D Pilot Plant Equipment.
The Associate Maintenance Team Leader guides a team composed of technicians performing mechanical, electrical and automatic controls maintenance activities in a 24/7 GMP manufacturing operation. The Associate Maintenance Team Leader proactively identifies/addresses equipment/system opportunities for improvement, and provides engineering and technical expertise in the execution of equipment/system maintenance. This position identifies productivity/compliance projects/initiatives to improve equipment performance/efficiency, labor utilization, GMP compliance, and EHS+S compliance at the site. This individual serves as Subject Matter Expert during audits.

Lead all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities related to manufacturing process equipment; maximizing technician’s /mechanic’s utilization. Responsible for training, developing and rewarding, employees in accordance with Neutrogena's policies and applicable laws and regulations. Lead compliance with Neutrogena’s policies, procedures; adheres to Plant Quality standards, Safety and Environmental regulations as well as Finance policies and procedures including Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). Motivate team, and support Team Leaders and Maintenance Manager with development opportunities and performance feedback. Track skills and execute development plans for team members. Train and develop maintenance technicians to solve production equipment problems in order to improve safety, quality and efficiency of the lines. Provide feedback to Maintenance Manager in regards to staffing (including job rotation) and proactively identify and inform the need of additional resources when required. Align maintenance resources, expenses and staff for maximum effectiveness of manufacturing operations; ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and quality guidelines. Responsible to provide technical support as needed. Support of validation/qualification protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) with task related to equipment maintenance to execute in a timely manner. Promote safety and participate in safety activities. Coordinate with the Maintenance and Production to perform department activities. Ensure performance of all activities required to maintain an effective preventative maintenance program. Identify and address key process control points that need to be included in the Calibration and Preventive Maintenance Programs. Ensure all maintenance work is documented in equipment logbooks / Work Orders when repairs are performed to equipment, including parts and component replacements, ensuring compliance with change control procedures. Ensure the manufacturing PLC/PC systems programs are well documented and archived, and all changes are made following change control process and applicable procedures. Support continuous improvement in equipment uptime and reliability metrics to achieve manufacturing schedule and OGSM objectives. Perform routine checks, insuring the manufacturing equipment is operating within compliance with Neutrogena’s safety and quality policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure maintenance work is performed as assigned in CMMS assuring adequate control of maintenance backlog. Perform reviews of Maintenance documentation to insure documentation and performance is compliant with Neutrogena’s policies, procedures, quality standards and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), as well as safety and environmental regulations if needed. Approve maintenance work orders related to work performed by maintenance personnel and contractors. Must be able to respond during off hours to cover/address emergency situation. This includes covering for other Maintenance Team Leaders during their time off.
Participate together with Maintenance Planners in the development of weekly and daily work schedules. Utilize the CMMS system to document all maintenance work and manage backlog notifications. Ensure routine maintenance schedule is executed as planned, assigning resources daily for efficiency and skill development. Ensure jobs are properly completed and closed in a timely fashion adhering to all GMP and Safety procedures. Lead initiatives related to Manufacturing Equipment Excellence (ME2). Lead the development and implementation of world class Maintenance standards including such as Reliability Center Maintenance (RCM), Maintenance Planning and Scheduling, Technicians Certification and applicable state licensing among others. Fosters relationships with all applicable development groups or task forces to actively influence design and assembly criteria. Lead Plant shutdowns projects associated with equipment overhauls, routine maintenance and improvements. Assist in assessments of manufacturing capabilities for new product introduction. Ensure staff is aligned to support launches and line trials. Lead department Corrective Action Preventive Action. Lead department Change Controls. Promote strategic alliances with vendors. Lead and/or contribute as a member of a cross functional team supporting Plant initiatives. Provide project engineering support for capital projects to improve manufacturing operations efficiency, safety and compliance.
Order parts or spares for production equipment and perform appropriate follow-up to assure timely delivery. Apply engineering methodologies to eliminate recurring downtime or to justify capital investment. Initiate and complete EHS+S Incident Reports for accidents, incidents or near misses in the work area. Determine basic cause(s), develop recommendations for corrective action, and follow up to ensure completing of corrective action. Implement safety related improvement as identified in the incident report. Lead employees to follow safety policies and observe safety rules, housekeeping standards are maintained and required safety training is completed. Support plant safety awareness programs. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

A minimum of (2) years of experience in the Maintenance/Engineering field in a Pharmaceutical or Chemical Process industry is desired. A Bachelor degree in Science of Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering required. degree qruie Experience leading maintenance technical personnel is desired. Familiar with World Class maintenance concepts such a Reliability Center Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, FMEA, FMECA, Maintenance Planning & Scheduling, and Predictive Maintenance among others. Familiar with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts. Experience maintaining equipment in Compounding and Fill & Pack manufacturing environment is desired. Experience leading projects and initiatives related to Safety, GMP Compliance and Cost Improvement is desired. Demonstrated leadership and team oriented skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Spanish). Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
