The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Manufacturing Technician – 2nd Shift is responsible for ensuring maximum efficiency from machine operators, ensuring maximum machine utilization, and ensuring minimal departmental nonproductive time to meet customer demand. Also responsible for supporting manufacturing processes by implementing all aspects of process improvement, equipment setup, documentation, problem correction and related tooling. Keep accurate records. Complies data to develop reports for management. Provide limited mechanical support for all assigned machinery. Responds to basic system alarms and reset alarms as necessary. Assure proper raw material handling and upkeep of associated warehouse / floor stock. Records assignments and prepare documentation concerning materials, parts used and processes. Provide focus on ensuring maximum efficiency from machine operators, ensuring maximum machine utilization, ensuring minimal departmental nonproductive time through modification procedures to improve equipment operation or processes to meet customer demand. Administer special projects associated with the respective areas and the daily, weekly and / or monthly reporting of all special projects and business transactions / operations and other administration activities as required. Support and follow protocols. Coordinates manufacturing phase in of new products or product changes. Participate and accept responsibilities relating to the team concept. Accept change and additional responsibilities and training associated with change. Willing to work any shift of a three-shift operation. Adhere to all GMP and ISO requirements; maintains and updates all department specifications, as required. Follow all company safety policies and other safety precautions within the work area. Responds to safety issues by reporting to appropriate parties. Attend required safety training. Promote safety to all associates that enter the work area. Update supervisor of work status or problem with recommendations for improvement or correction. Implements approved corrective action. Other responsibilities may be assigned and not all responsibilities listed may be assigned. Participate in implementation of the EMS management system including continual improvement; pollution prevention; objectives and targets; and regulatory compliance. Implement and follow all applicable EMS procedures. Adhere to the site’s EHS Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
A minimum of a High School diploma or GED is required. Must have ability to work and communicate well with others. Must have ability to give and understand instructions, both verbal and written. Proven ability to independently recognize and solve problems is required. Good mechanical/technical ability is required. Must be a self-starter having demonstrated creativity, assertiveness and leadership. Basic computer skills required.
The ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, stand/walk for long periods and bend/stop/reach required. Must be able to work 2nd Shift (2:30pm – 11:00pm). The ability to work occasional overtime, weekends and some holidays, based on business needs, is required.
