The Ethicon Surgical Care business, a part of the Global Surgery Group within the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for an Associate Sales Representative, located in San Francisco, CA.
The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon Surgical Care business combines products and services of two market leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and electiveness of open surgery. Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. was created 20 years ago in Cincinnati, Ohio, developing innovative devices that have driven the revolutionary shift from open to minimally invasive surgery that continues to lead the industry today.
The Associate Sales Representative (ASR) role is to expand the sales of Ethicon Surgical Care (ESC) products and to convert competitive products in a manner that complies with company policy and sales direction. The ASR provides support to the aligned region/division for all sales-related activities, and upon successful completion of duties, will assume territory responsibilities as a Sales Representative.
Additional job responsibilities include: Demonstrate product, procedure & clinical knowledge: Understand and demonstrate proper surgical application of all company products. Properly communicate dynamic functions of entire product line. Know human anatomy in order to demonstrate proper use of all products. Be aware of and report on competitive activities and trends. Conduct sales presentations: Proper use of current selling methods learned in sales training courses including use of sales tools, sales aids, and proper demonstration of product features and related benefits to patients. Ability to handle customer product questions and objections consistent with sales training methodology. Employment of a selling cycle that is concise, professional, ethical and persuasive that leads the customer to action. Plan territory sales: Analyze data from company systems. Responsible for analyzing the market in which they work: optimizing territory plans by consistently tracking market information, using data systems to run analysis on accounts/cost & impact decision making in accounts. Business Planning: setting priorities and making sound business decisions based on understanding of the big picture in accounts. Use knowledge of broader marketplace and medical device trends to interpret current patterns. Proper allocation of time among target accounts based upon focused objectives. Knowledge of competitive activity by representative and hospital accounts. Build excellent customer relations with key physicians, hospital personnel, and authorized distributors, as well as conduct customer education seminars as appropriate. Understand the roles that physicians, nurses, support staff, and hospital administration plays in the sales process. Conduct customer education seminars as appropriate: Demonstrate product, procedure & clinical knowledge and demonstrate proper surgical application of company products. Teach surgeons, nurses, scrub techs, & various staff members how to properly use and reload our devices. Facilitate surgeon's participation in Institute & field based Prof Ed. and attend/support events. Demonstrate contract knowledge: Understanding of contract terms. Understanding of competitive, national and Ethicon Surgical Care contracts and/or agreements at all accounts. Conduct business contract reviews at assigned accounts per management directive. Operate within the confines of an approved budget. Maintain company property (i.e. car, promotional materials, etc.) in an orderly and serviceable condition. Conduct business in accordance with Business Conduct Policy, HCC and other J&J policies and procedures. Other responsibilities may be assigned & not all responsibilities listed may be assigned. The ASR will also have excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office and Apple applications.

An undergraduate Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in an applicable field is required. One or more years of business experience preferred. One or more years of relevant sales or professional experience preferred. Documentation of successful sales performance is preferred. The ability to work in a lab or operating room environment is required. A valid driver's license issued in one of the 50 United States is required.
