Janssen Healthcare Innovation (JHI) is recruiting an experienced Medical Director to support our portfolio of Care4Today integrated care businesses in the US and EMEA. The position is based in the US (San Diego, CA or Titusville, NJ) and will report into the Global Head of Integrated Care Businesses for JHI.
Care4Today is an umbrella brand used by JHI for all its enabling technologies and integrated care businesses. Currently JHI is trialing and building integrated care propositions in areas of great unmet need that align to Janssen and J&J’s long term strategic imperatives. Out initial focus is on building, trialing and commercializing technologies for cardiovascular rehabilitation (Care4Today Heart Health Solutions), community mental health care (Care4Today Mental Health Solutions) and pre and post-surgical recovery (Care4Today Orthopedic Solutions).
Our new service models integrate care, educate, engage and empower patients and healthcare professionals alike. To date over a 1000 patients have been enrolled in our integrated care programs and exposed to our technologies. Evidence collected to date across the US and EMEA suggests that our Care4Today Solutions can improve clinical outcomes, drive productivity gains (reduces overall resource utilization) and increase patients and staff satisfaction; thereby having the potential for significant value creation for health care systems as a whole.

The Medical Director is primarily responsible for clinical / service evaluation protocol design, study implementation and analysis across the lifecycle of our integrated care businesses. The Medical Director will play a major role in developing the research and publication agenda for our Care4Today Integrated Care Businesses and will be an active contributor to growth of our integrated care business portfolio. The Medical Director will also have overall responsibility for validating medical content in our care programs, be accountable for Healthcare Compliance and Business Integrity and Quality of our solutions. In his capacity, the Medical Director will also support proposal writing and contracting for commercial trials and commercial agreements.
In order to effectively execute key medical affairs activities above, this individual will be required to work closely with the Commercial and Implementation leaders, Business Analytics, Marketing Director, Communication and Technology leaders; as well as outside vendors, external customers, and key thought leaders to develop clinical education and support programs.
More specifically, the Medical Director will work closely with the trial, sales and marketing teams to provide clinical input for marketing initiatives, trial and sales materials, education and training, and special projects. Will also contribute to the publication planning process, and coordinate closely with the medical education and CME groups.
The Medical Director will direct research studies across the lifecycle of our integrated care businesses, design clinical protocols and represent Clinical and Medical Affairs in review and approval process. This individual will participate in data clean-up listing reviews and interpret study results. Oversee protocol and product safety.
Qualifications
A minimum of an MD/DO degree and clinical practice experience is required. A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Medical Director, Medical Affairs Leader, or equivalent position is required. Proven ability to build network and credibility with opinion leaders in academic and clinical areas is required. Clinical trials experience and protocol development and implementation experience is required. Previous experience managing professionals is preferred. Knowledge of FDA and EMEA regulations related to clinical research is required. Demonstrated ability to manage complexity is required. Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills are required. This position will be located in San Diego, CA or Titusville, NJ and will require up to 50% Domestic and International travel.
