Under close supervision, the Calibration Technician performs and documents somewhat simple technical functions relating to test, layout, quality control, fabrication, modification and assembly of mechanical equipment and/or components, and will also perform electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, developmental or optical technician duties in such areas as manufacturing, maintenance, quality, testing, engineering, development, where some judgment is required. The Calibration Technician additionally constructs, inspects, calibrates, adjusts, tests and maintains equipment, components, devices and systems.
Under close supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, the duties of this position may include: monitoring and documenting manufacturing processes; working with engineers to develop new products and processes; building and testing prototypes; testing and validating new products and/or equipment; maintaining and repairing (when necessary) manufacturing equipment. Other duties of the Calibration Technician include: offering suggestions for improvement in operating time, yields, ergonomics, handling, etc; writing or updating work instructions, part specifications, validation protocols, test reports, service reports, routine reports and correspondence, develop, proof read and update technical documents (ECOs, cPDM); identifying production problems, evaluating, and recommending solutions and methods of improvements; actively supporting Operation's programs of continuous improvement; training associates to manufacturing operations, to certified operations, documentation, and regulatory requirements; providing suggestions on revision/changes to manufacturing documents as appropriate; supporting less experienced manufacturing technicians; performing evaluations for supervisor/engineer with minimal instruction; performing relatively complex inspections utilizing test equipment; auditing workstation practices to ensure compliance; implementing manufacturing efficiency and quality improvements. All employees are responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level while ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, and are additionally responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures. The Calibration Technician will perform other duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications
This position requires a minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent completed, AA or AS degree is an asset. A minimum of three years calibration or repair and maintenance of electrical or mechanical equipment is required. Experience with mechanical and electrical assembly is preferred, GMP experience is strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is an asset. Qualified candidates should have good to excellent organizational skills, be thorough and detail oriented, must be able to successfully complete company/department training courses in manufacturing techniques, with an ability to learn regulatory (GMP) requirements. Qualified candidates must be able to work with a minimum of supervision, and posses good to excellent reading, writing and communication skills in the English language. Weekend and overtime work may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work with a variety of manufacturing equipment and work near moving parts and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Additionally the noise level may be loud in this working environment. Employee is required to wear special garments when working in a clean room environment.
