For our department in London we are currently seeking for a fulltime (40 hours per week)

Lab Manager / Senior Technician

Department/Project:

The remit of the newly founded CVI lab in London is to investigate the role of the human microbiome in health and disease. We are currently assembling a team of experienced microbiologists and bioinformaticians to apply 16S community analysis, metagenomics, and metabolomics to clinical samples and animal models of human diseases linked to microbiota dysbiosis. We aim to identify factors and mechanisms that might influence/enhance the risk and outcomes associated with these disorders/conditions and to develop products for prevention and treatment.

Job Description:

We are searching for an experienced Lab Manager/Senior Technician to join our growing team of talented bench-based and computer-based scientists.

Your responsibilities will be split between experimental and administrative duties to include:

- Performance of key microbiological/molecular biological related experiments
- Receiving and processing of biological samples
- Create and ensure compliance with internal SOPs, laboratory safety requirements, and remain current with good laboratory practice
- Oversight management and organisation of the lab
- Ordering, receiving and restocking of laboratory supplies, equipment acquisition and maintenance

You will also serve as the lab Safety Officer.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline is required, with hands-on laboratory and/or lab management experience.

Experience with general microbiological and sterile working techniques, laboratory record keeping, maintaining laboratory equipment and supply management, environmental health and safety issues and computer skills is required;

Previous experience with microbiome-related research, next generation sequencing, metabolomics is desirable;
