Position Overview:

Reporting to the Consumer, Senior Director Global Facilities, this role will provide strategic and technical leadership for the development and execution of an Energy Management & Sustainability strategy for consumer, which will contribute to a favorable environmental impact, reduction in carbon, water, and waste footprint, reduction in energy cost and support the J&J Healthy Future 2015 program. Develop the energy procurement strategy and data collection process for the APAC & provide guidance to the service providers responsible for energy and sustainability initiatives, metrics, and project execution.
The role will routinely interface with multiple internal business stakeholders including Supply Chain, R&D, and Commercial leaders. The role will also interface with external stakeholders including government agencies, non-governmental agencies, customers, etc. and on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop Energy Management and Sustainability strategies/ policies/ programs across the enterprise portfolio and identify/initiate/recommend energy, water, and waste conservation projects that support Healthy Futures 2015 objectives, cost savings, and other business initiatives. (30%)

Partner with regional director & site managers and provide oversight and consultation for all local, site energy and sustainability teams to coordinate efforts, share best practices, create standard designs, and implement site initiatives.

Responsible for the development of the overall utility budget estimates, in partnership with the service provider, site management, and utility operations, across the entire regional portfolio of sites.

Develop strategic internal and external partnerships to support sites in implementing ISO 50001, self-assessments, retro-commissioning efforts, LEED certification efforts, employee awareness and behavior change programs.

Provide leadership for the site energy management teams to help drive initiatives, support business objectives, and deliver sector-specific results.

Ensure sites comply with local, state and federal regulations as related to energy and sustainability including EPA, DEP, OSHA, EU ETS, etc.

Partner with senior leadership to sponsor “Green team” initiatives throughout the regional portfolio and provide site/regional/sector benefits focused on providing J&J with “Green alternatives” for processes and workplace.

- Manage energy procurement initiatives for the APAC. (20%)

- Responsible for implementing the global energy procurement strategy regionally. Manage the global energy procurement service provider and provide regular budget updates based on market conditions. Understand the complexities of a regulated and unregulated markets and drivers of regional pricing. Responsibility includes financial compliance associated with capacity or supply purchases.
- Manage master agreements and transactions associated with sector or regional energy programs such as demand response and environmental trading schemes.
- Develop Energy Management and Sustainability strategies for the Consumer Sector that support Healthy Futures 2015 objectives, cost savings, and other business initiatives. (30%)

- Manage energy, greenhouse gas (GHG), and water data and communicate both internally and externally.
- Manage the regional data collection process and service providers associated with utility bills, GHG accounting, and energy, water, & waste project pipelines, etc.
- Manage the annual GHG collection and validation process including scope 1 (direct), 2 (indirect), & 3 (value chain) emission sources.

- Partner with commercial groups to establish a measurement system and improve the carbon footprint of our products (scope 3). Disseminate improvements through the appropriate communication channels.
- Partner with the regional fleet teams to manage and improve fleet CO2 emissions.
- Partner with sites to continually improve GHG data collection process including utilities, refrigerants, and other GHG emission sources.
- Oversee the implementation of processes and standards utilizing internal and external benchmark data to drive continuous improvement and standardize energy management practices.
- Participate in peer groups and government & non-governmental organizations to improve benchmarking, gain knowledge of incentive programs, and continuously improve J&J’s reputation.
- Communicate regularly to both internal and external stakeholders on the performance of our site energy & sustainability programs
- Vet and develop new technologies that can be used to reduce our environmental footprint. (20%)

- Attend regional and web based technology seminars to find products and services that can help us meet our energy and sustainability goals.
- Host quarterly technology meetings (Technical Advisory Council (TAC)) and annual regional meetings to disseminate new technologies and programs to sites.
- Lead risk evaluation of proposed energy reduction technologies/strategies (financial, safety, validation, reliability) on demand side initiatives.
- Act as the technical expert in the region who can advise new construction and renovation project teams on J&J building standards, LEED evaluations, new technologies, zero energy buildings, etc.

Qualifications


- BS in Engineering, Science, or related discipline; MS or MBA preferred
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in energy & sustainability management
- Strong leadership and influencing skills a must
- Excellent communication skills, ability to negotiate with key business leaders

Location of Role: Flexible, but must be within geographical area of responsibility

Location of Thailand Office: This position will be based in J&J Thailand office in Latkrabang Industrial Estate, Bangkok.

Language Requirements: Strong English and Thai language are required

Travel Requirements: Up to 50% travel within prescribed regional territory
