The Manager, Global Medical Affairs provides scientific and technical information pertaining to Vistakon products to external professional customers and internal teams. The primary purpose of the role is to support the global medical affairs claims strategy and substantiation for contact lens (CL) products, including scientific and technical information to health care professionals and JJVC functions. Such claims help differentiate Vision Care CL products. The position will also review the medical adequacy of a product's global harms and hazards list as well as risk management reports, health hazard evaluations (HHEs), safety surveillance plans (SSPs), risk classifications and other Post-market safety surveillance procedure (PSS) outputs. The role shall also provide input into the product development process, shall have access to the results of Clinical Investigations, and shall be available to advise on in vivo and in vitro non-Clinical Laboratory Safety Studies and shall have access to the results of the research. The position interacts with a broad range of JJVCI and J&J functions including but not limited to product development, commercialization, supply chain and business development.
The Manager, Global Medical Affairs provides clinical support to professional customers by responding to unsolicited questions for clinical/technical information, and participate in the identification and facilitation of novel clinical study ideas. The individual assists in supporting investigator initiated clinical trials, and Phase IV clinical trials to generate new information and claims, and aid in the feasbility, site selection and field support of company sponsored trials. The Manager attends and participates in customer-facing meetings to communicate scientific and technical product performance and attributes, including responding to unsolicited questions. The individual functions as internal liaison on science, clincial and technical product/category related questions for internal teams. He/she raises the scientific profile of Vistakon products through disseminating science in abstract via written and verbal communications/presentations at regional/national and international research symposia. The role will adhere to environmental policy and procedures, supports department environmental objectives and will perform other related dutes as assigned by management.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) or equivalent is required. Professional training as an Eye Care Provider is required. High level of interest and knowledge of contact lenses and the anterior eye are highly preferred. A minimum of 2 years of clinical practice, clincial research or relevant clinical education experience is required. Minimum of 2 years experience running vision-related clincial trials or managing complex contact lens patient cases is preferred. Residency training in Cornea & Contact Lenses or equivalent experience is preferred. Knowledge of clinical study design and statistics is preferred.
This position is location in Jacksonville, FL and may require up to 30% travel.
