VISTAKON®, Division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for CNC Machinist I, located in Jacksonville, Florida
The CNC machining group provides manual machining of components and fixtures for manufacturing operations’ automated lines and CNC fabrication of optical inserts (sphere & aspheric designs) and associated components used on multiple injection molding platforms. Also, suggests design changes or recommends improvements in production methods. Performs all work with adherence to safety procedures and GMP/ISO requirements. The Optical Tooling CNC machines & platforms include: Mazak (up to 5 axis-blanks and milling process), Optoform 50 (Pre-machine or optical finish diamond turning (OFDT)), Moore 450 (OFDT), Moore 250 (OFDT), Precitech Nanoform 250 (OFDT), Astigmatic (OFDT), and Optomatic (OFDT), CNC Grinder, EDM, Welder, and Manual Machining operations.
The CNC Machinist has responsibility for fabrication of high quality tight tolerance (+/- 2 microns) and work performance to meet established goals for: Compliance to all safety requirements; Product quality; production efficiency; and on-time delivery. In addition the CNC Machinist actively participates in activities (i.e. Safety Inspections/Procedures/Reviews, Quality document revisions, 5S, and other continuous improvement initiatives) related to the overall success of the department; Works closely with Optical Tooling, R&D and Process engineering disciplines on the transfer of new lens/tool designs & CNC programs and Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
A minimum of a high school degree or the equivalent is required. A minimum of 2+ years machining trade or military training in a technical or mechanical discipline and/or equivalent experience within a CNC machining work environment is preferred. Consideration will be given to individuals enrolled in machining programs at Vocational, Technical, Community Colleges or Apprentice machining programs. A minimum of 1 year experience in a CNC machining work environment is required. The ability to operate manual and CNC equipment independent of technical oversight is required. The ability to read and interpret multi-paged complex machining product blueprints is required. Knowledge of, and the ability to apply algebraic, geometric functions to blueprint dimensions in the machining of products is required. Facilitating and attending training for continuous technical skill development is required. Basic knowledge and familiarity with AutoCad and MasterCam are required. Ability to inspect precision machined parts is required. The ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel is required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required. Ability to prioritize projects and tasks as well as work in an empowered work team environment is required. The ability to work a 6 am to 6 pm (day shift) OR 6 pm to 6 am (night shift) on a continuous operations schedule in addition to every other weekend is required.
Physical demands of this position require Walking, Bending, Pulling, Light Lifting (Up to 23 lbs.), Grasping, Visual Acuity, Kneeling, Reaching, Pushing, Talking, Standing, and Fingering.
CNC programming (G & M code) experience and fabrication within a tight tolerance (+/- 2 micron) environment is preferred. The ability to setup & program CNC machines (lathes, grinders, mill) to fabricate parts within +/- 2 micron tolerances is preferred. Familiarity or ability to measure components using Metrology equipment Zygo (interferometers, VeriFire, VWA) and Taylor-Hobson Talysurf is preferred.
