The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon Surgical Care business combines products and services of two market leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and electiveness of open surgery. The Project Engineer is responsible for providing project management with special technical expertise in support of product development, process transfers, process improvements and/or facility modifications.
The Senior Engineer will provide coordinated resources to ensure successful completion of assigned projects. Develop and apply product and process technology(s) to optimize and expand plant capabilities. Serve as a liaison for interface between Albuquerque and project teams. Provide specific technical expertise to enhance plant capabilities. Develop project plans: schedule, costs and resources. Manage projects by controlling schedule, costs and resources. Maintain technical proficiency within industry related technologies. Benchmark best practices from world-class companies. Apply state-of-the-art process technology to support improved customer service and cost of goods sold reduction. Follow all company safety policies and other safety precautions within the work area. Attend required safety training. Promote safety to all associates that enter the work area. Report to Engineering Manager. Other responsibilities may be assigned and not all responsibilities listed may be assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science in engineering required. Electrical or mechanical degrees are preferred. Advanced technical training in project management preferred. Project Management Certification is preferred. Lean Six Sigma, Green or Black Belt is preferred. Leadership for maintaining effective cross-functional teams required. Communication of project status to company management experience required. Analytical and statistical measurement systems and problem solving techniques experience required. Proficiency in word processing, graphics, and computer aided design, data management, project management, computer-based process controllers and statistical analysis preferred. Experience in medical device/pharmaceutical industry, project engineering and management, new product start-up, validation (installation, process and production), make-buy analysis, cost-benefit analysis, training, facilities planning, manufacturing and industrial engineering, budgeting and cost improvement is required. 10% of domestic travel is required.
