Johnson & Johnson Consumer Europe is a leading supplier of Fast Moving Consumer / OTC Goods. Our products are produced and distributed in all major EMEA countries and exported overseas.
The EMEA Strategic Sourcing team sources Raw materials for the J&J Group of Consumer Companies which are aligned with the demand from the GFO’s and the Global Supply Chain.
We do this by building and implementing sourcing strategies that develop a world class network of best value suppliers meeting J&J Business needs of supply quality and reliability, responsiveness, cost competitiveness and access to technology innovation that fuels superior growth.
The position of Sourcing Manager is designed to meet these objectives. In this role, you will be responsible for one or more commodity / technology areas, with a total average spend of approx. $30MM. The complexity of a Strategic Sourcing Manager portfolio is a product of the number of materials (up to several hundred), the concerned technologies, the number of supplier relationships to manage (up to 50), the number of SKUs (up to several thousand) and the number of Brands/Franchises supported (up to 25).
This is only possible through having great knowledge of suppliers, their industries, products/ services and being an excellent collaborator with Business Value Chains (Plant Materials Management and Planning, Manufacturing, New Product Introduction) R&D, Franchise Management, Quality, Technical Assurance, Legal, Regulatory teams and ad hoc project teams.
A Strategic Sourcing Manager will be expected to have comprehensive understanding and knowledge of both J&J external and internal environments, namely:

In addition to this Core Sourcing knowledge the Manager will also be expected to demonstrate key skills of:

Understanding the complete value chain from Origin / base feedstock (Oil / Mineral / Agricultural / Synthetic) to consumer and the position of the category within this value chain

Strategy Development through effective Business Needs Understanding, Economic, Financial, Industry, Competitor and Supplier Analysis.

Strategy Implementation through the effective execution of Competitive Bidding events, Strategic Negotiations, Supplier Relationship Management, Leveraging and Legal Contracting.

(When/where assigned) – lead or contribute to operational due diligence programs driving licensing & acquisitions or asset / product divestitures; Operations Due Diligence training will be delivered as planned at least once annually in the region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS
Sourcing Strategy

Become expert in the technology and supply industry area by developing in-depth knowledge about Supply Base Industry (capabilities, strengths, weaknesses)

Become the point of contact in the technology and supply base area for Industry and Supplier intelligence and trends
-
Develop, align with Business and execute sourcing strategies for the specific technology area
Cost and Complexity Reduction
-
Lead efforts to identify and implement current and pipeline cost and complexity reduction opportunities with Internal Stakeholders and Suppliers
-
Develop and Manage the financial Business Plan through forecast of yearly price changes, tracking of Cost Improvement Program
Legal Contract Development and Management
-
Negotiate appropriate supply terms and agreements for Raw Materials that best meet the needs and risks posed to J&J
-
Manage contracts status to ensure appropriate legal coverage is maintained across the portfolio
Supplier Relationship Management
-
Accountable for defining and managing supplier relationship to best meet the needs of commodity strategy
-
Accountable for the identification, implementation and tracking of Continuous Improvement initiatives at selected Suppliers
-
Accountable for crisis resolution through early escalation and deployment of internal resources
Compliance to J&J requirements

Ensure Supplier compliance towards all J&J requirements (Reach, Financial Sarbanes-Oxley, Health & Safety, Environment, QA etc) through deployment of internal resources
Access to Innovation/Sustainability

Lead efforts to identify and implement product or technology innovation from Suppliers that fuel profitable growth
The performance of the sourcing manager will be primarily measured by:

Improvements in cash flow; actual cost savings, cost avoidances or efficiency gains as validated by the manager and financial business partners

Structural supplier responsiveness and reliability improvements in the current and future supply base

Contribution and insights to key Strategic Business Partners – esp. Franchise, R&D and Value Chains

Other Dimensions:

The SSE Sourcing Managers will represent J&J extensively with external companies, and must maintain strict discipline with regard to confidential/sensitive information and must maintain a strong code of ethics.

The SSE Sourcing Managers will be interfacing and negotiating with senior management at the Suppliers.

The SSE Sourcing Managers will act as consultants to senior level management and franchise leadership teams in the areas of current and future material supply trends.
Qualifications

Commercial / Technical Education in Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics must have

MBA / Other post-graduate degree nice to have
