The Senior Microbiologist will design, conduct and interpret biological experiments to support development programs and identifies biological pathways and agents. They will provide biological scientific support to manufacturing and product development. They will also review scientific and technical summaries, and provide recommendations for potential business applications. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to recording information obtained in experiments according to established procedure; Facilitate procedures so that records and raw data are properly retained; Summarize and interprets data; Keep abreast of current scientific developments relative to project areas; Monitor current scientific literature in key journals; Perform general literature and research searches including analysis and interpretation; Attend in house seminars, local and regional scientific meetings in associated fields; Present updates to outside consultants as needed, and at in house team meetings; Prepare technical reports and other documents that record data or results; Assist supervisor in the preparation of manuscripts; Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensures its proper operation; operates analytical and other instruments; Operating in accordance with current GMPs. This includes the ability to understand and apply SOPs and use GMPs for documenting, testing and maintaining accurate laboratory records; Support the Instrument Lifecycle Management Process; Support the Software Lifecycle Management Process; Assisting in various other duties which contribute to the organization and function of the laboratory; Maintain up to date knowledge on the latest applicable laboratory techniques, advances and technology; Work in team environment behaving in a CREDO based respectful manner; Comply with all federally regulated programs; Adhere to J&J environmental and safety policies and guidelines; Comply with all job specific safety procedures and utilize PPE when necessary; Comply with quality system requirements as defined within procedures and instructions; Consistently meet required work performance targets (RE’s), if applicable; Support LEAN and Six Sigma Initiatives; Support Maintenance Excellence (ME2) including 6S and Operator Asset Care; Accurately complete records as defined within the job procedures (e.g. manual and/or electronic documentation); Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor; Consistently meet required Training due date targets.
Qualifications
BS with at least 5 years of experience OR a MS with at least 3 years of experience OR a PhD is required
Previous experience performing complex environmental monitoring, lab assays and biomarker identification and development is required
Previous experience conducting biological indicator, growth promotion, endotoxin, and bioburden testing, and microbial identifications is required
Ability to work independently to perform testing with limited supervision is required
Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills is required
Must be able to interact well with peers and colleagues
Must be Self-motivated
Prior experience using test equipment (Starett Gauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, Microscope, etc) is preferred
Prior experience utilizing applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g. ComplianceWire, ADAPTIV, etc.) is preferred
