Description

McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Manager, located in Lititz, Pennsylvania.

McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc markets a broad range of over-the-counter products, including TYLENOL® acetaminophen products, ZYRTEC® and BENADRYL® allergy medicines, IMODIUM® A-D anti-diarrheal, MOTRIN® IB and SUDAFED® nasal decongestants.

This role directs the operations of the packaging and manufacturing maintenance teams, systems, and equipment. The Maintenance Manager manages a group of professionals, who oversee packaging and manufacturing technicians, and may have direct technician reports. Responsible for safety, maintenance metrics, cost, and OEE.

POSITION SUMMARY

Lead a group of business unit technicians to maintain and upgrade packaging and manufacturing systems. Identify and prioritize equipment, process, and systems improvement priorities with the Maintenance and Business Unit Managers. Focus on safety, optimizing technicians’ performance, equipment efficiency, reduced changeover and setup times, compliance, PM completion, cost management, training, and housekeeping. Drive continuous improvement, equipment reliability and repeatability. Think analytically to understand a situation or problem. Make metric-based decisions. Assist project and process engineers in effective design, procurement, installation, and commissioning and qualification project activities associated with packaging and manufacturing systems. In-depth operational knowledge and demonstrated troubleshooting skills of packaging and manufacturing systems. Develop and implement standardized operating processes, procedures, and practices for the maintenance team. Provide strategic leadership for maintenance excellence program and partner with manufacturing and engineering to provide optimal life cycle costs for manufacturing and utility equipment. Develops and enhance the maintenance organization through effective organizational design, selection, development, training, and performance management of all staff. Directly supervise the maintenance team leaders. Establish and maintain the preventive maintenance program for the business units. Ensure reliable and economical of packaging and manufacturing systems. Assure that direct reports are fully and effectively trained and work in compliance with applicable SOPs, cGMPs, regulatory requirements, safety, environmental, and Company policies. Coach and counsel direct reports regarding operations and/or colleague performance. Administer corrective action as necessary. Provide leadership necessary to effectively implement and execute change. Demand pursuit of stretch goals for self and others. Set example for personal commitment and accountability. Provide coaching and mentoring. Ensure follow-through on personal development plans for all technicians. Acts as a change agent within the organization. Establishes and oversees departmental budget. Reviews expenses and implements cost controls to ensure budget is not exceeded. Evaluates and provides recommendations for vendors. Responsible for the implementation of key metrics under the maintenance system - PM and CM work orders tracking, changeovers, overtime management.

Qualifications


A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in engineering, scientific or related discipline is required. An MS/MBA is preferred. A minimum of 8 years of supply chain experience with a minimum of 5 years of experience in GMP regulated manufacturing environment is required. Experience in maintenance engineering (maintenance of machinery to produce or repair parts, tools and/or equipment) is required, at least 3 years of experience is preferred. Experience developing, leading, and executing capital projects are required. Supervisory/people management experience or demonstrated ability to lead cross- functional, cross-business teams is required. Demonstrated ability to engage and positively motivate the workforce. Must be a high-energy and self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities. Experience with Gemba Kaizen concepts is a plus. Demonstrated ability to drive and implement change, using values-based leadership and achieving objectives in a manner consistent with the Credo and J&J’s Standards of Leadership. Experience with root-cause analysis and failure analysis skills are required. Action oriented: identifies opportunities to improve processes and equipment capabilities through employee empowerment, data analysis, experimentation, and suggestions. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, influencing, listening, negotiating, and decision making skills are required. Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills are required. Knowledge of Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Writes and speaks clearly in a variety of communication settings. Provides information people need to know, while clearly articulating the message and is timely and forthcoming with important information. Strong understanding of a Lean manufacturing principles and understand its role in the business environment. Six Sigma and/or Lean Certificate (Black Belt or Green Belt) is preferred. A demonstrated mastery of the analytical skills and professional judgment required to resolve major technical issues. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS, TPM, Maximo, SAP, MP2) is preferred. This role will be based in Lititz, PA and requires the flexibility to work off shift hours as the business needs change.
