The Clinical Leader is Responsible for designing and executing clinical development strategy and clinical trial designs for symptomatic and disease-modifying treatment within the Janssen portfolio; Aims to increase productivity of R&D through implementation of state of the art innovative clinical development strategies; Effectively networks with internal and external opinion leaders. Design and implement innovative early clinical development strategy for new drug candidates; Leads the preparation of clinical development plans and clinical study protocols, and contribute to informed consents, Investigator Brochures, and Ethics Committee and regulatory agency submissions; Reviews and evaluates clinical study safety, efficacy, and pharmacokinetic data; Contributes to the development and use of clinical biomarkers to facilitate drug development; Actively collaborates with basic research scientists; early-stage clinical development, regulatory, and commercial colleagues within Janssen Research & Development; Collaborates with external experts to provide in-depth biomedical expertise and strategic guidance to compound development teams; Contributes to in-licensing evaluations and due-diligence activities; Contributes towards translational science including preclinical models, in vivo imaging, and qualification of biomarkers; When serving as a safety physician: has ultimate responsibility for the medical management and safety aspects of the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials for which they are responsible; and Actively participates in developing and implementing strategies for the Alzheimer Disease Area Strongholds.

Qualifications


An MD with (industry) experience in Neuroscience is required. Specialization in neurodegenerative disorders is required. Consideration will also be given to candidates in academia with the appropriate scientific credentials (incl. experience in working with industry) and a strong motivation to move into the industry. A minimal 5 years of related experience. Having a good knowledge and understanding of clinical pharmacology, regulatory requirements, and preclinical drug testing is required. Having a good understanding of the drug development and clinical trial process in the pharmaceutical industry is required. Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills are required. Must have the ability to work in a matrix environment with cross-functional teams. Willingness and ability to travel abroad, including trans-Atlantic travel.
