Description

MD&D Global Supply Chain, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Training Manager, Product Development – Quality that can be located at any J&J Medical Devices & Diagnostics location globally.

The Ethicon business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, hemostasis products, surgical staplers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of open and minimally invasive surgical procedures, and energy based surgical devices. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon business combines products and services of two market leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and effectiveness of surgery. Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. was started within Ethicon, and was separated and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio over 20 years ago, developing innovative devices that have driven the revolutionary shift from open to minimally invasive surgery that continues to lead the industry today along with innovative energy devices for surgery.

The Training Manager, Product Development - Quality of Global Learning Solutions reports to the Director Global Learning Solutions within the MD&D Quality Operations Central Training Organization. The Training Manager, Product Development - Quality is responsible for the overall management of the Product Development training portfolio, including needs analysis, support of design and development (in collaboration with Instructional Design), and rollout of relevant, effective learning opportunities to audiences across all in-scope sites (n=50+) and regions (Americas, EMEA, ASPAC) within MD&D. This individual partners with businesses to conduct needs-analysis, establish the annual Product Development training plan, deliver against the commitments and establish and monitor metrics to ensure high quality of programs and training effectiveness. Also responsible for ensuring that all Product Development Training Programs and Processes are in compliance with local, national and international regulations and standards as well as with all franchise policies and processes and J&J Corporate requirements. The cross-functional and global dependency of this program requires the Training Manager - Product Development to work closely with partners across MD&D, as well as to Product Development training professionals across the enterprise.

The Training Manager, Product Development - Quality responsibilities include: Identify need for and implement programs to support Product Development’s educational objectives and organizational development plans, including programs for new and more tenured employees. Ensure that each employee understands their job function and the GMP requirements pertaining to that particular job function, including how the job relates to the overall quality system. Develop the annual schedule for Product Development training portfolio and identify appropriate internal/external facilitator, for approval by the Director Global Learning Solutions. Identify and evaluate vendor training programs. Direct all existing and on-going training programs. Maintain and enhance as necessary content in current course offerings to reflect PD process changes. Communicate at all levels within Product Development regarding training for employees. Assist presenters with instructional techniques that produce the best results with adult learners. Assist PD Training Specialists with planning, designing and evaluating training, when necessary.

The Training Manager, Product Development - Quality also will develop and implement methods to evaluate training and development effectiveness by assessing trainer/trainee performances. Ensure all training records are current and properly maintained. Facilitate Product Development Training Forums and maintain knowledge of training and performance improvement methods by attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies. This individual complies with Quality procedures, Laws and Regulations with the applicable markets. This individual complies also with the Company Regulations whether local, state or federal, as well as with all environmental, health and safety procedures and policies.

Qualifications


A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree is required preferably in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Science, or other similar degree. Certification in an area such as training effectiveness, adult learning principles, trainer qualification, Six Sigma, and/or Lean is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required. Experience working in a regulated environment and designing role-based curricula is required. This individual must have broad knowledge of Product Development processes within the MD&D sector. A comprehensive understanding of curriculum development, adult learning styles, and training effectiveness is required. Excellent oral and written English communication skills, additional language skills (German, French, and Spanish) are a plus. A proven analytical ability and the ability to work collaboratively with team members to compile information, assess problems and propose effective solution options is required.

This individual must have Ability to partner with internal stakeholders (e.g. Subject Matter Experts in R&D, Quality, and Management) in needs assessment, curriculum design and roll-out is required. Knowledge of the external market in the field of Product Development training and related fields, and track record of managing the relationship with external suppliers is preferred. Strong project management skills to lead and execute multiple projects on time and within budget and to prioritize changing tasks/timelines is required. The ability to work with employees across different cultures and at different levels in a matrix organization is required. Client-centric mindset required. Use of computers and related learning technologies is required.

This position may require up to 15% travel and can be based at any J&J Medical Devices & Diagnostics location globally.
