Position Overview
The Bilingual Scientific Reviewer will be reviewing French language scientific and labelling controlled materials in accordance with current procedure while ensuring accuracy, timeliness and cost-effectiveness.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 15 MONTH CONTRACT POSITION.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review French language Labeling text and other controlled materials (promotional materials, adverse event reports, etc.) for Janssen Inc.
- Give final sign-off for release of French language Labelling and other controlled documents
- Review / approve / negotiate changes made to French copy by PAAB or other regulatory bodies
- Translate technical/medical content such as AE reports and patient medical records, lab reports, etc. (Drug Safety and Surveillance)
- Audit and evaluate files translated by service provider (as part of provider assessment)
- Develop, maintain relationships and collaborate with European affiliates and other industry groups
- Research terminology on new chemical entities
- Develop and maintain Work Instructions for own area of responsibility
- Review French language copy translated by other LS staff members or approved vendor.
- Act as alternate to evaluate and authorize deviations to the process (for Labelling materials only).
- Participate in marketing cycle planning meetings and agency/market research briefings when required.
- Participate in new product launch Ops team meetings.
- Advise on French terminology and adaptation problems. Offer possible solutions to adaptation projects for marketing purposes (advertising slogans, idiomatic expressions, etc.).
- Contribute to in-house and vendor terminology banks.
- Evaluate the need for deviations to the process (for Labelling materials only).
- Assess nature of project and apply manual or automated review accordingly.
- Escalate to management any major issue or situation that may require a deviation from the approved procedures.
- Sign off on French Controlled copy in Linguistic Services Manager’s absence.
- Provide recommendations on improvement of processes and procedures, deviations to approved process, optimization of written content of controlled documents and linguistic and other related issues.
Qualifications
This position requires:
French native speaker with above average writing skills
University degree in Life Sciences or related field
Experience in French medical writing
A solid understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations
More than 5 to 7 years of experience in English-French translation/review in pharmaceutical or other related fields
ATIO/OTTIAQ certification and/or other related professional association an asset
Able to work under tight timelines
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of CAT tools (LogiTerm, Studio TRADOS), and MS Office an asset
Experience in the Health Care Profession (Paramedics, Nursing, Doctor, Pharamacist, etc.) would be a strong asset.
