Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C. is currently recruiting for a PM/BA Medical Informatics. This position can be located in Spring House, PA or Titusville, NJ. Weekly travel to the NJ/PA sites will be required. Additional travel up to 15% may be required.

The PM/BA role is accountable for business analysis and defining and executing business requirements for projects, achieving project objectives, ensuring effective integration of new systems and technologies.

Responsibilities include: Serves as a thought leader in the field of medical informatics, with specific expertise in one or more areas: translational informatics, health informatics, clinical diagnostics and electronic health records; Understands how IT works end-to-end and the impact of solutions across the enterprise; Leads or sponsors highly visible, complex projects, programs or solutions that are critical to the business; Leads large, moderate to complex projects, programs, or initiatives across the franchise or enterprise; Responsible for overseeing IT portfolio management and complex project execution especially in the areas of medical informatics: translational studies, health informatics, biorepositories, clinical biomarkers, electronic health records, and Janssen Diagnostics; Ensures alignment of IT programs with business partners; Manages relationships across all IT, legal, finance, and the impacted Business IT areas, etc.; Shapes and influences business partners as well as external collaborators; Oversees establishment of data standards in the acquisition and processing of clinical data sets using industry and local standards wherever possible, such as MEDRA, SNOMED, CDISC, and RxNORM; Oversees development of software tools, applications, and analyses to support business uses of health informatics data across R&D and the Enterprise, including Therapeutic Areas, Quantitative Sciences, General Medical Safety, Epidemiology, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, Medical Affairs.

Additional decision making responsibilities include: Addresses complex problems with broad implications for IT architecture, balancing the often competing needs of standardization and innovation; Ensures solutions are consistent with business objectives or business strategy; Makes decisions regarding resource alignment/dedication and prioritization (people resources, dollars/funding, project criticality) and communicates rationale back to the business; Contributes to the strategic planning process and long-term direction for IT and aligns plans between stakeholders; Contributes to budget development and monitors budget within area.

Knowledge for this position should include: Expertise with a wide variety of medical data obtained from multiple clinical settings such as experimental medicine, clinical observational studies, biorepositories, social media, electronic health records, etc.; Expertise with representation methods for medical data in a variety of settings; Broad strategic vision of the company’s future products, services, and strategies globally; Broad understanding of the company’s current IT system portfolio; Strong understanding of technology trends and the potential impact on the J&J system portfolio; Strong understanding of the business and its operating environment (e.g., trends, competitors, compliance landscape, and regulatory environment); Understanding of IT resource and cost drivers for a franchise or business unit; Knowledge of medical, legal, and ethical issues regarding management of medical data sets.

Supervision Received/Provided: Leads critical projects that may be matrixed, cross-functional, and/or global in nature; Anticipates business needs to influence the development of solutions; maneuvers through a matrixed set of relationships, influencing direction and receiving input from various stakeholders; Leads the formulation of innovative ideas and solutions on products, processes, and systems; Provides leadership, mentorship, or guidance to direct reports and others; Manages vendors necessary to complete a project; Partners with scientists and clinicians to assist in the design and interpretation of new experiments and studies as needed; Promotes the development of scientific skill sets in the group and collaborations with external academic partners; Publishes findings in scientific journals and industry forums; Fosters collaborations internally across sectors and with external academic collaborators in conjunction with multiple therapeutic area and functional initiatives globally.

Qualifications


A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience OR an advanced degree (Master’s, PhD or MD) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. Familiarity with clinical data management from one or more of the following areas is required: clinical laboratories, clinical trials, health outcomes, and/or electronic medical records. Familiarity with genetic / genomic data management is preferred. Project management certification(s) or equivalent project management experience is required. Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary teams in a matrix environment is required. Knowledge of SDLC is required. Technical scripting or querying skills are preferred.
