The PET Imaging Senior Scientist will be a member of the Neuroscience Biomarkers team, and will be responsible for conducting collaborative Positron Emission Tomography imaging biomarker research with internal and external partners. This individual will conduct and manage preclinical experiments, including microPET/CT imaging, mass spectroscopy based analysis, and blood tests, aimed at testing candidate PET tracers in preclinical models to confirm target engagement, and to test biodistribution, metabolism and clearance kinetics. S/he will forge internal and external collaborations for evaluating the performance of candidate PET tracers in different species. S/he will manage and report project progress and time lines to the Director of Operations and Imaging as well as Discovery scientists in Mood Disorders and Alzheimer’s Disease. The Senior Scientist PET Imaging, will also interface with scientists in Discovery Sciences and Experimental Medicine, as well as with purchasing and contracting. The scientific focus for this position consists of Neuroscience imaging biomarker projects for target engagement and response measurements in Mood and AD. The operational focus for this position consists of working with PET scientists to collaboratively devise detailed molecular imaging tracer development programs and manage their execution. S/he will devise experiments for conducting safety assessment.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology or Biology is required. A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience, iepreclinical molecular imaging is required. On-the-job experience with imaging biomarker development and hands-on experience in pre-clinical imaging is required, including experience with rodent biodistribution studies, pharmacokinetic and metabolite analysis. Hands-on experience with candidate tracer testing in rodent models, specifically tail vein injection, is required. Strong communication skills are required. Strong collaboration and influencing skills are required. The position is located in La Jolla, CA and may require <10% travel.
