Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Mechanic 2, located in Albuquerque, NM.

The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon Surgical Care business combines products and services of two market-leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. The Mechanic 2 is responsible for performing manufacturing maintenance, projects, inspections and equipment installations in production areas as required. Perform manufacturing maintenance in production areas as required. Perform maintenance projects, preventive maintenance inspections, and equipment installations as assigned: coordinate with other maintenance technicians and plant personnel as needed. Complete, in a professional manner, maintenance logs, parts requisitions, preventive maintenance inspection records, and other required maintenance documentation. Read machine drawings, and electrical and pneumatic schematics; identify parts from drawings and bills of material. Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Participate in and accept responsibilities relating to team concept. Exhibit safe work habits in handling of equipment, tools and use of protective equipment. Follow all company safety policies and other safety precautions within the lab/shop/manufacturing area. Attend required safety training. Promote safety to all associates that enter the work area. Reports to Engineer. Other responsibilities may be assigned and not all responsibilities listed may be assigned. Participate in implementation of the EMS management system including continual improvement; pollution prevention; objectives and targets; and regulatory compliance. Implement and follow all applicable EMS procedures. Adhere to the site’s EHS Code of Conduct.

Qualifications


High school diploma required. Technical school graduate or equivalent preferred. Must have at least 5 years of experience working as a mechanical technician with a high school diploma OR at least 2 years of experience working as a mechanical technician with a trade school degree.

Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometer, gauges, etc.) required; Experience with high speed packaging equipment preferred; Good working knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic systems and controls preferred; Good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems preferred; Able to accurately report maintenance activities; Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. Basic computer knowledge preferred; Self-starter, able to perform job assignments enthusiastically, with minimal supervision is required; Employment history should reflect good initiative.

Must be able to work 2nd Shift (2:30pm – 11:00pm). Requires long periods of walking and standing. May need to bend, stoop and reach regularly. Some office deskwork, requiring sitting, walking, reaching and using the phone and computer. May require lifting of loads under 30 lb regularly. Occasionally lift loads over 30 lbs but less than 50 lbs.
