Description

ALZA Corporation, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for Engineering Co-op to be located in Vacaville, California.

ALZA Corporation develops drug delivery-based pharmaceuticals, precisely controlling the targeting, timing and dosing of therapeutic compounds. ALZA technology has been incorporated in more than 30 commercialized products, including DURAGESIC® (fentanyl transdermal system) CII, CONCERTA® (methylphenidate HCl) CII, DITROPAN XL® (oxybutynin chloride) and DOXIL® (doxorubicin HCl liposome injection).

Engineering Co-op opportunities are available in Equipment, Facilities, and/or Process Engineering and may include: Equipment and facility design and development, testing of materials, preparation of specifications, process and capability studies, research investigations, and report preparation.

Engineering Co-op will work under the supervision of a senior staff member to: Provide daily technical support to Operations to resolve any equipment/software issues, minimizing equipment downtime. Generate, coordinate, and manage engineering change control documentation, including equipment and facility drawings; generate equipment test plans for qualification. Contribute to the design, installation, startup, validation and operator/maintenance training for new or modified packaging/processing equipment. Participate in analyzing and providing corrective action recommendations for proposed equipment upgrades/modifications. Assist in implementing cost effective solutions to reduce operating costs and meet GMP and safety requirements. Assist in communications between vendors, design firms, and customers for equipment purchase or retrofit. Complete all requisite training/education classes to maintain and design equipment to meet the latest pharmaceutical standards and regulations.

Qualifications


Enrollment (not necessarily taking classes) in an accredited college/university during the Co-op is required. Actively pursuing at least a Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required. Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering academic major is preferred. Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the Co-op is required. Completion of at least freshman year of undergraduate academic program is required. A minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 (based on 4.0 scale) is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus/community service activities are preferred. Prior experience in an applied laboratory, internship, or co-operative engineering work assignment is preferred.

Co-op positions are located in Vacaville, California. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to/from this work location on a daily basis. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
