Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is searching for an Industrial Engineer, located in Memphis, Tennessee.

On behalf of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, JJHCS strives to deliver an exceptional customer experience through leading critical customer facing-functions such as distribution, customer service, logistics and transportation. In addition, JJHCS oversees critical business enablers, including how we gather and manage supply chain master data, safe and secure supply chain practices, product identification standards, and market/channel access capabilities. JJHCS supports all three sectors of Johnson & Johnson: Medical Device & Diagnostics, Pharmaceutical, and Consumer Products. JJHCS is part of a reporting structure, known as Customer Logistics Services (CLS), which is an organizational reporting structure that supports supply chain activities for multiple companies within the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies.

The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for design, development, testing, and evaluation of new and existing distribution/manufacturing systems for industrial distribution processes including human work factors, material flow, cost analysis, and process optimization in distribution, production and packaging operations. Collect and analyze data related to the efficient movement and accuracy of product in the distribution center. Lead and or participate in safety, quality, environmental, and continuous improvement projects. Work with management to identify, develop and implement corrective action plans based on analysis, trend analysis and forecasting. Adheres to environmental, safety, and quality policy and procedures and supports site and department compliance objectives. The position will interface with various departments and sites including Customer Contact Centers and Operating Company planning departments.

The Industrial Engineer will plan, schedule and perform moderately complex engineering projects to evaluate, select, and adapt or modify standard distribution techniques, procedures, and criteria to increase the efficiency of distribution operations. The position will develop/modify distribution methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization. This engineering position will also require the following functions depending on the project assignment:

Studies operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities. Ensures the maintenance of labor and equipment capacity models. Formulates complex sampling procedures and designs special or adhoc forms and instructions for nonstandard recording, evaluating, and reporting. Apply advanced statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards. Apply verbal and written communications skills in periodic and special reports and presentations both internally and with customers. Perform analytical problem solving and utilize structured decision making.

Ensures that distribution/manufacturing equipment meets company specifications, schedules and budgets. Takes a primary position in activities involved with sub-contractors from beginning of design process through installation and start-up processes. Serve as a resource to other engineering disciplines in facility or a portion of a given technology and act as advocate for continuous improvement of technology and process.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineer, Logistics, Operations, or related field or equivalent required experience. A minimum of 2 years engineering or technical experience in distribution and or manufacturing operations is required, 3 to 4 years of experience is strongly preferred.

Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong organizational and analytical skills. Must have strong relationship management skills and leadership skills. Must demonstrate the ability to work under time constraints and manage complexity. Must demonstrate a sense of urgency, work independently; motivated by the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment.

Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment is preferred. Previous experience in Medical Devices and Diagnostics is preferred. Certification, experience and or training in Process Excellence (Lean/Six-Sigma) is preferred. Certification, experience and/or training in Statistical Engineering/Shanin tools is preferred. Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (i.e. MARC Global) preferred. Knowledge of visual basic, Arena Simulation Software, SQL and/or Access is preferred.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Minitab or SAS, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required. Demonstrated experience in statistical design and analysis of experiments, root cause analysis and project management is required. Change leadership experience preferred. Successful experience collaborating with all levels of management in a cross-functional team environment is required. Ability to work occasional off-shift hours (2nd or 3rd shift) and occasional weekends based on project demands. Up to 25% travel is required.
