Under close supervision, performs and documents somewhat simple technical functions relating to test, layout, quality control, fabrication, modification and assembly of mechanical equipment and/or components. Performs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, developmental or optical technician duties in such areas as manufacturing, maintenance, quality, testing, engineering, development, where some judgment is required. Constructs, inspects, calibrates, adjusts, tests and maintains equipment, components, devices and systems.

Under close supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, the duties of this position may also include: Monitor and document manufacturing processes; Work with engineers to develop new products and processes; Build and test prototypes; Test and validate new products and/or equipment; Offers suggestions for improvement in operating time, yields, ergonomics, handling, etc; Write or update work instructions, part specifications, validation protocols, test reports, service reports, routine reports and correspondence, develop, proof read and update technical documents (ECOs, cPDM); Identify production problems, evaluate, and recommend solutions and methods of improvements; Actively support Operation’s programs of continuous improvement; Train associates to manufacturing operations, to certified operations, documentation, and regulatory requirements. Suggestions revision/changes to manufacturing documents as appropriate; Maintain and repair (when necessary) manufacturing equipment; Support less experienced manufacturing technicians; Perform evaluations for supervisor/engineer with minimal instruction; Able to perform relatively complex inspections utilizing test equipment; Audit workstation practices to ensure compliance; Implement manufacturing efficiency and quality improvements; Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level; Responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition; Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures; Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications


This role requires a minimum of three years or more experience in the manufacture of medical devices and/or solid state materials, and electronics. A minimum High School Diploma or GED is required, Associate Degree or higher is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, as is experience with mechanical and electrical assembly. GMP and experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is preferred. Six sigma and process excellence tools/methodologies experience is an asset. Must have good to excellent organizational skills, must be thorough and detail oriented, must be able to successfully complete company/department training courses in manufacturing techniques with the ability to learn regulatory (GMP) requirements. Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision, and must have good to excellent reading, writing and communication skills in the English language. Weekend and overtime work may be required. The employee is required to wear special garments when working in a clean room environment, and is also required to work with a variety of manufacturing equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving parts and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock, and noise levels may be loud. Qualified candidates should have the ability to commute daily to the Irwindale, CA facility.
