Neutrogena Corporation, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Staff Engineer – Facilities & Project Lead located in Los Angeles, CA.

Neutrogena Corporation develops, manufactures and markets premium skin and hair care products sold worldwide and recommended by medical professionals. The Staff Engineer Facilities & Project Lead is responsible for providing technical engineering support to achieve operational objectives through the development and implementation of capital projects which improve the facility infrastructure, compliance and capacity. This individual ensures all projects comply with Neutrogena’s policies, procedures, quality standards and FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as well as OSHA, Environmental, Uniform Building Code, J&J corporate standards and any other applicable legal requirements. S/he provides an engineering and operational perspective for equipment selection, custom design, integration, capital justification, project management, specifications, acceptance criteria, installation, commissioning, validation, operator training, and maintenance turnover in accordance to good engineering principles (GEP). S/he fosters cross functional partnerships, leads or participates with project teams, strives for consensus in implementing projects The Staff Engineer Facilities & Project Lead supervises trade contractors, contract firms, and contract engineers/project managers for duration of project(s). This individual directs the preparation of and/or reviews engineering designs, floor plans, material flows, schematics as required to upgrade the plant infrastructure and process systems. S/he ensures that manufacturing compliance, capability and capacity are aligned for business growth, ensures the plant compliance. S/he implements concurrent project assignments that require fundamental understanding of engineered systems and components. This individual provides leadership (by example) in the areas of the J&J Credo, Environmental, Health, Safety, CGMP Compliance and by challenging the "status quo." S/he performs benchmarking; remains current with industry standards such as ISPE, ASME-BPE. S/he establishes, manages and adheres to budgets and timelines. S/he prepares specifications, solicits bids and procures equipment or services from vendors and contractors. S/he prepares and makes presentations to management.

The Staff Engineer – Facilities & Project Lead is responsible for providing functional team and troubleshooting support for facilities and manufacturing. This individual will collect data, conduct needs assessment, and assemble samples and information for investigations. S/he will promote compliance adherence (quality, safety, environmental. S/he will assist in the investigation of all incidents in work area. S/he will determine basic cause(s), develop recommendations for corrective action, and follow-up to ensure completion of corrective action (CAPA). This individual will hold supervisors and team leaders accountable for maintaining compliant work areas. S/he will insure all employees/vendors follow policies and observe rules.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. A Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Degree from a four-year accredited college or university is preferred. It is required to possess a minimum of 8 years work-related experience. Experience within either of the following areas of Process or sanitary (clean) Facilities equipment systems and/or FDA, OTC, pharmaceutical, cGMP or biotech industries and/or experience with liquid process and/or utility equipment, installation of process and/or mechanical piping/systems highly preferred, but not required. Experience in multiple project management/execution of capital projects >$500K that required management of contract firms, timelines and financial accountability is required. Experience in all phases of the project life cycle from conceptual design through qualification, including capital justification/ROI is required. Experience in writing specifications, bidding, purchasing documents and factory/site acceptance protocols is required. Supervision of engineering firms, construction firms related to the implementation of assigned projects is preferred. Experience in the maintenance function is required. Experience working under a managed Change Control process is preferred. Equipment and system qualification experience, including working knowledge of URS, FS/DS, IQ, OQ is preferred. Experience with the design or installation or operation in one of the following areas is required: Sanitary compressed air, USP Purified Water, HVAC systems (≥ISO 9/MERV 14), Sanitary process piping, Sanitary CIP systems. The successful candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills. Strong Software skills with using Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project and AutoCAD are required. The position is located in Los Angeles, CA and may require <15% travel.
