The Senior Process Excellence Engineer is responsible for implementing key business improvement initiatives for manufacturing lines. He/She defines opportunities, analyzes data, designs manufacturing line flows, and improves business processes. This individual will be responsible for improvement initiatives led by enlisting and influencing cross-functional teams that deliver tangible business results through the application of Lean and Six Sigma principles, methodologies and tools. The Senior Process Excellence Engineer will utilize business, leadership and technical skills and will be responsible for executing projects and mentor all groups (associate to management) at the site, to develop a continuous improvement culture. He/She will be responsible for developing a strategy and executing plan to deliver process performance improvements related to Quality, Delivery, and Cost of a manufacturing process or line. This individual will develop strategy, change management plans and execution plans to improve flow of products. The Senior Process Excellence Engineer will leverage process knowledge to identify opportunities and solutions to improve capacity by reducing impact of constraints. He/She will be responsible for driving associates’ engagement and for developing Lean and Six Sigma capabilities through coaching and mentoring. This individual will sustain business improvement results through the application of Lean, Six Sigma, ME2, Do It Right, and other continuous improvement methodologies. The Senior Process Excellence Engineer will facilitate PEx trainings, business case definitions, and results presentations; as required. He/She will leverage knowledge of product costs and drivers and Design to Value concepts, to effectively participate in cross-functional teams pursuing product cost improvement initiatives. This individual will follow and observe all regulatory requirements (GMP’s, ISO, FDA, internal policies) applicable to area of responsibility. He/She will comply with Johnson & Johnson safety requirements, safe working conditions and practices in the department.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; Engineering or Science discipline is preferred. A minimum of Green Belt Certification is required; Black Belt Certification is preferred. A minimum of 4 years overall business experience is required. A minimum of 2 years experience within a regulated industry (FDA, ISO, GMP) is required. Prior experience in Medical Devices preferred. Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment working on continues improvements are preferred. Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies is required. Demonstrated ability to understand cross functional processes in a manufacturing plant is required; effectively interface with other engineering disciplines, such as Controls and Automation engineering and New Product Introduction teams is required. Experience in continuous improvement tools and approaches to increase production up-time, minimize unplanned maintenance, minimize work in process inventories (WIP) is required. The ability to recognize machine operating conditions and requirements for optimum production runs as well as troubleshooting to resolve basic line performance issues is required. Demonstrated ability to identify constraints in, or non-conformances resulting from, the production process through analysis of material, people and information movement/flow is required. The ability to understand product cost drives by interpreting product bill of materials and cost sheets to ensure adherence to projected cost is required. Knowledge of production and quality control techniques such as CFM and TQM is preferred. Experience with financial processes (standard cost development) and business planning is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
This position is located in San Angelo, TX and may require up to 20% domestic travel.
